Drawing of the Day: Space 🪐✨

Today’s drawing of the day is a page dedicated to outer space! I’ve included planets, moons, stars, and more 🥰

This drawing was inspired by the eclipse on April 9th 2024 🌙☀️

Materials:

- Strathmore sketchbook 5.5” x 8.5” size 📖

- Pilot precise V5 rolling ball pens 🖊️

- Papermate flair! Medium felt tip pens ✍️

This drawing took a week to make! So many little dots! I was going crazy just drawing dots for hours lol 😅 Overall I think this turned out so pretty! I love drawing space and hope to draw more 🥰

... Read moreHey fellow art lovers! Seeing my detailed ink space drawing come to life after a week of tiny dots was so rewarding, and I know many of you are searching for your own cosmic inspiration. If you've been wondering how to create your own stunning outer space scenes, or just looking for some fresh 'space drawing ideas,' let me share a few of my favorite tips and techniques that helped me with my latest piece. First off, don't be intimidated by the intricate details you see in my blue and white outer space drawing. While it might look complex, it's all built up from simple elements. For ink drawings like mine, using a combination of pens with different tip sizes, like the Pilot precise V5 rolling ball pens and Papermate flair! Medium felt tip pens mentioned in my materials, can make a huge difference. The fine tips are perfect for those countless small dots that create depth and texture, while the medium tips help fill in larger areas or create bolder lines for planets with rings. When it comes to 'galaxy space drawing' or drawing nebulas, stippling (drawing with dots) is your best friend. It’s what gave my drawing that unique, vibrant look and took over a week to complete! Start with lighter dots for distant areas and increase the density and size of your dots for closer, brighter stars and planetary atmospheres. This technique is fantastic for creating that hazy, ethereal glow of a galaxy. If you're going for a 'pencil galaxy drawing idea,' you can achieve a similar effect by layering graphite softly and blending, but the crispness of ink stippling really stands out. For individual elements like 'planets' and 'stars,' consider their placement. Think about composition – what do you want to be the focal point? In my piece, I tried to give a sense of depth by having planets of varying sizes and distances. Don't forget the details! Rings around planets, craters on moons, and even the subtle glint on a star can make your 'outer space drawing ideas' truly shine. And remember, not every planet has to be perfectly round; some can be partially obscured by nebulas or other celestial bodies, adding to the mystery. If you're just starting with 'space sketch ideas' or 'space doodle ideas,' you don't need fancy materials. A basic spiral-bound sketchbook, like my Strathmore sketchbook, and a simple black pen are all you need to begin experimenting. Try sketching different planet shapes, star clusters, or even abstract cosmic patterns. The goal is to get comfortable with the forms before diving into a detailed ink drawing. For a 'space drawing on black paper' effect, you could use white gel pens or light-colored pencils on dark paper, which instantly gives a dramatic contrast perfect for the starry night sky. Finally, finding inspiration is key. While my drawing was inspired by the recent eclipse, you can look to real astrophotography, sci-fi art, or even just your imagination. Don't be afraid to experiment with colors too, even if my piece is blue and white. A vibrant nebula with purples, pinks, and blues can be breathtaking. The most important thing is to have fun and let your creativity explore the vastness of space on your page! Keep practicing, and your 'space theme drawings' will evolve beautifully.
