Just came back to my mothers after a week and I kinda regret coming home
Returning to a family home after some time away can evoke a blend of emotions that are often difficult to navigate. Many people experience a sense of comfort and nostalgia, yet alongside these feelings, there might be unexpected regrets or discomfort. From personal experience, spending a week away and then coming back to a parent's house can trigger a realization of how much has changed or even highlight underlying tensions. It's common to feel a shift in dynamics when you return home. The familiarity can sometimes amplify feelings of restriction or remind you of things you’ve outgrown, which may lead to second-guessing the decision to come back. For me, this feeling of regret wasn’t about disliking my family but more about missing the sense of independence and space I had while away. To cope with these mixed emotions, it helps to consciously create boundaries and communicate openly with family members about how you're feeling. Also, balancing visits with enough time to reconnect with yourself is important. Engaging in personal hobbies or spending time outdoors during a stay can provide some much-needed mental space. Ultimately, the experience of returning home is deeply personal and varies greatly. If you find yourself regretting a visit like I did, remember that it’s okay to feel conflicted. These moments can be opportunities for self-reflection and growth, helping to strengthen relationships while also affirming your autonomy.
