... Read moreMy recent trip to The Island in Pigeon Forge was absolutely unforgettable, and I just had to share all the highlights! If you're planning a visit to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, The Island should definitely be at the top of your list. It’s one of those cool places to visit in Tennessee that truly offers something for everyone, whether you're with family, friends, or on a romantic getaway. First things first, you cannot visit The Island without experiencing The Island Fountain Show. It’s truly the heart of the attraction. Imagine water dancing to music, illuminated by an incredible light display – it’s mesmerizing! I found that the best time to catch the show is definitely at night. The way the lights play off the water against the dark sky just makes it so much more magical. There are multiple shows throughout the evening, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see it. Grab a seat on one of the many benches, or even better, find a spot at one of the restaurants with an outdoor patio for dinner with a view. It’s a completely free show and honestly, it rivals some of the more expensive attractions in the area. Beyond the captivating fountain, there are so many things to do at The Island. Of course, the iconic Great Smoky Mountain Wheel is a must-do. The views from the top are spectacular, offering a panoramic look at Pigeon Forge and the surrounding mountains – especially beautiful during sunset. For thrill-seekers, there are other rides like the Spinning Parrots Coaster, but a standout for me was SKYFLY: Soar America. It’s an incredible flying theater experience that makes you feel like you’re soaring over some of America's most beautiful landscapes. It’s immersive and truly unique, adding another layer of adventure to your visit. When it comes to food, The Island has a fantastic selection. From quick bites to full-service restaurants, you'll find everything from southern comfort food to international flavors. I particularly enjoyed grabbing a sweet treat and just people-watching while listening to the sounds of the park. And for shopping, you'll find unique boutiques and gift shops perfect for picking up souvenirs or gifts. Don't forget to check out Ole Smoky Moonshine for a taste of local spirits (if you’re over 21, of course!). For those looking for Pigeon Forge attractions beyond the main strip, The Island serves as a perfect hub. It’s centrally located and easy to spend an entire day or evening there. While it's not exactly one of the local secrets and hidden gems in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge (it's quite popular!), it offers so many diverse experiences that you can always discover something new. Parking is usually plentiful and often free, which is a huge plus. My best tip for visiting is to go in the late afternoon to enjoy daylight activities, then stay for dinner and the stunning island show fountain pigeon forge night performance. It’s truly an experience that captures the vibrant spirit of Pigeon Forge.
