Boat Day Fit Check ⛵️

Because who doesn’t love a good boat day!?

Actually tbh, I wasn’t a huge fan because I used to get so seasick, BUT I think I’m getting much better because the last 2 times I went, I actually felt good and had a great time!

So, in the spirit of a fun boat day, I’m sharing my casual but fun outfit for an adventurous day on the water!

I decided to go a more casual route and wore something I could just be comfortable and really move in. A sundress would’ve been pretty, but for moving all around a sailboat, shorts were 100% the move! I went with these fun crochet shorts from Tularosa which were so comfy and added great texture to the look!

My swimsuit is also from Tularosa and had fun texture and the wooden rings which I love for some detail. I finished it off with an oversized white button down (the best and easiest thing tho thrift!) and a trucker hat to complete the look!

I used to get incredibly seasick, which really put a damper on the fun. But after a lot of trial and error, I’ve found some amazing ways to manage it, and now I absolutely love my boat days! It’s all about preparation, from what you wear to how you handle the waves. Beyond the Outfit: My Seasickness Survival Guide While a great boat day outfit helps you feel confident, comfort is paramount, especially if you're prone to seasickness. Here are a few things I’ve learned that make a huge difference: Ginger Power: Whether it’s ginger chews, ginger ale, or even fresh ginger tea, this root is a natural anti-nausea remedy. I always pack some for a boat trip. Focus on the Horizon: Keeping your eyes fixed on a stable point on the horizon can help reorient your inner ear and brain, reducing feelings of motion sickness. Fresh Air & Hydration: Staying on deck where you can feel the fresh air and keeping well-hydrated is crucial. Avoid stuffy cabins and sugary drinks. Light Snacks Only: Opt for bland, light snacks like crackers instead of heavy, greasy foods. An empty stomach can sometimes make seasickness worse, but so can a very full one. Essential Accessories for Your Boat Day Look Beyond the main outfit pieces like a comfy swimsuit (like my Tularosa one!) and those versatile crochet shorts, the right accessories can elevate your boat day experience for any woman. Sun protection is key, and a stylish 'Wahine' trucker hat not only keeps the sun off your face but also adds a cool, casual vibe. Don't forget a good pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from glare. I also swear by a light, oversized white button-down shirt – it’s perfect for layering, provides extra sun protection, and can be easily thrown over your swimsuit as a cover-up. It's truly a boat day essential! For footwear, practicality is king. My white Havaianas flip-flops are always a go-to because they’re comfortable, waterproof, and easy to slip on and off. If you plan on being more active or on slippery surfaces, consider deck shoes with good grip. Finally, a practical bag is a must. I love using a rattan sling tote bag for my essentials – it’s chic but also roomy enough for sunscreen, a book, and any seasickness aids. Just make sure it can handle a little splash! Styling Your Boat Day Pieces Beyond the Boat One of the best things about my favorite boat day pieces, like the Tularosa crochet shorts, is their versatility. These aren't just for the water! I often pair them with a simple tank top and sandals for a casual beachside lunch or even a relaxed evening stroll. The oversized white button-down also works wonders as a light jacket over a summer dress or with jeans for a laid-back look. Investing in comfortable yet stylish pieces means you get more wear out of them, making your wardrobe work harder for you. Embracing comfort without sacrificing style means every boat day, and every day off the boat, can be an adventure!
