In my experience, trying to ‘lower my ego’ isn't about diminishing myself, but rather about gaining a healthier perspective and not letting it turn me into a puppet of my own insecurities. Learning how to control your ego is truly a game-changer for finding peace. For example, the article mentions 'Stop Getting Offended.' This hit me hard because I used to take everything personally. Now, when I feel that familiar sting of offense, I pause and ask myself, 'Is this truly about me, or is this person projecting their own pain?' Most times, it's the latter. This simple shift in perspective has helped me immensely in detaching from knee-jerk reactions and choosing peace over pointless conflict. Another big one for me was 'Let Go of Control.' I used to be a micromanagement enthusiast, convinced that if I didn't oversee every detail, things would fall apart. But all it did was exhaust me and strain my relationships.
