Happy Hump Day!
Midweek often brings mixed feelings, but it’s a perfect time to reflect on how we manage our relationships and self-care. The phrase "You can't keep holding space for someone who isn’t holding that same space for you" really resonated with me. It highlights an essential truth about emotional energy and boundaries. In my experience, trying to maintain a unidirectional relationship drains your energy and diminishes your self-worth. I’ve learned that recognizing when to step back and prioritize self-love rather than waiting for reciprocity frees you from unnecessary stress. ‘Never shrink yourself for love’ is a powerful reminder to stay true to who you are. In past relationships, I’ve found myself compromising my values and happiness just to keep the peace or maintain connection. But true love and healthy relationships flourish when both people contribute equally and respect each other’s boundaries. This midweek, I encourage you to assess if your relationships support your growth or hold you back. Surround yourself with people who match your effort and care. Holding space is mutual—it’s not a favor or a burden, but a shared commitment. By celebrating this Hump Day with mindfulness about love and self-respect, you empower not only your relationships but also your mental and emotional well-being. Remember, love should expand you, not shrink you.
