Tithing & Trust: God Keeps Showing Up!

Today, I saw a TikTok where a young woman shared how had bills due and didn’t know how she was going to pay them. She considered skipping her 10% tithe but chose to give anyway—and that same night, God provided for her in an unexpected way! That got me thinking because it’s been many times I chose not to give because of my circumstances and I felt slightly convicted. So I called my mom to talk to her about this and she shared her own testimonies of being faithful in giving and how God has always made a way for her. She reminded me that we’re called to give and be generous.

I prayed and asked God to lead me to scripture, and I opened to Ecclesiastes 11. It talks about sowing generously, even when you don’t know what will happen, because in due time, you will reap the rewards. Basically, it’s a call to trust God and give without fear! I called my mom back, and shockingly she had just gotten off the phone with a friend who was struggling with her bills but still chose to tithe. When she called to pay her bill, the balance was already covered!

Like…WOW! God keeps confirming the same message—trust Him, be faithful, and He will provide.

... Read moreIt’s incredible how timeless principles like tithing and generosity find a solid 'modern background' in our lives today. In a world constantly pushing us towards consumerism, instant gratification, and self-reliance, the idea of giving away a portion of your income can feel utterly counter-intuitive, especially when you're juggling bills and trying to secure your future. But what I've learned, and what truly resonates with me, is that this act of faith isn't just about money; it’s about establishing a profound trust in a greater provider. This trust becomes the unshakeable 'modern background' that brings peace amidst the chaos of our busy lives. I remember feeling the pinch, just like many of us do with rising costs and economic uncertainties. My mind would race, wondering how I'd make ends meet if I willingly gave away a portion of my income. It's a very modern struggle, isn't it? We're conditioned to hold onto every penny. But then I reflect on the wisdom found in scriptures, like the one from Ecclesiastes 11 that says, 'Send your bread on the surface of the water, for after many days you may find it.' This isn't just ancient text; it's a profound metaphor for investing in faith, giving without immediate expectation, and trusting that the return will come, often in unexpected forms. It’s like planting a seed, not knowing when or how it will grow, but having unwavering faith in the process. This perspective offers a serene, spiritual 'modern background' for financial decision-making that really calms the storm. And it’s not exclusively about cash. The OCR content highlighted a powerful message: 'INVEST IN LIFE your time, money, and resources.' This really hit home for me. In our hectic, modern lives, time is often more valuable than money. Giving your time to help others, volunteering, or simply being present for someone in need—that’s just as much an act of tithing your resources. It's about being generous with all that you have, creating a ripple effect of positivity that forms a beautiful 'modern background' for your community and your own well-being. It transforms giving from a chore into a lifestyle. I've personally experienced how this trust alleviates so much of the 'modern' anxiety we carry. When you commit to giving, even when it feels challenging, you shift your focus from scarcity to abundance. You start to truly see God's provision in the small things – an unexpected discount just when you needed it, a friend offering help without being asked, a forgotten gift card appearing at the perfect moment. It’s not always a grand, dramatic rescue, but a consistent, gentle showing up that builds your faith muscle. This consistent provision is the solid 'background' that keeps me grounded and continually reminds me that I'm not alone in my struggles. For anyone navigating the complexities of modern finances and faith, I want to share a practical tip: start small if you need to. The Bible emphasizes the heart behind the giving, not just the amount. Even a small act of generosity, done with faith, can open doors to incredible blessings. Don't let the fear of 'what if' hold you back. Trust that when you prioritize giving, God takes care of your 'background' – your foundation, your needs, your future. It's a leap of faith that constantly reminds me that while 'money is the answer for everything' (as Ecclesiastes 10:19 notes in some interpretations), God's provision, love, and guidance are the ultimate answers, providing a truly modern and resilient framework for your life.
