6D5N Hainan itinerary 🇨🇳 (Sanya + Haikou) beaches, cafes & seafood 🦀✨

🧳 6D5N Haikou & Sanya Itinerary 🇨🇳🌴

Just came back from Hainan (Sanya + Haikou) and honestly… I didn’t expect to love it this much 😭✨

Think beaches, seafood, cafes & chill vibes. It was a perfect mix of relaxation + exploring.

Here’s my full 6D5N itinerary + what I ate 👇

📅 Day 1 – Travel Day + First Look at Sanya

Landed at Haikou Meilan Airport

Took high-speed train to Sanya

📍 Explored:

(Dadonghai Beach) 🏖

(Joy City)

📅 Day 2 – Scenic Spots + Shopping

📍 Stops:

CDF Duty Free Shopping Mall 🛍

🍜 Dinner highlight: Seafood restaurant near CDF mall

👉 SUPER fresh, delicious & surprisingly cheap 🦀

📅 Day 3 – Nature + Atlantis Sea Aquarium

(Yalong Bay Forest Park) 🌿

(Houhai Village – very chill surf vibe)

📍 Atlantis Sanya — honestly, the sea aquarium was very underwhelming, not worth the money imo. but the buffet that was included in the package was AMAZING. It has HUGE spread: oysters, sashimi, seafood + cooked food

📅 Day 4 – Travel to Haikou + Old Streets

Took high-speed train to Haikou

📍 Explored:

(Qilou Old Street)

Viewed Century Bridge 🌉

💡 Feels like old-school Hong Kong dimsum culture

👉 Huge variety + very local experience

📅 Day 5 – Café Hopping + Favourite Food AGAIN 🤭

Many cute cafes & aesthetic spots ☕️✨

Found a stationery + café concept store

⚠️ Tip: Shops open after 1pm, come later!

🍜 Dinner: Went back to 老爸茶楼 again 😂

👉 That’s how much we loved it

👉 Food was still amazing on second visit

... Read moreTraveling through Hainan over six days is a fantastic way to experience the diversity of this tropical island, especially when splitting time between Sanya and Haikou. Based on the itinerary, the combination of natural beauty, cultural landmarks, and culinary delights creates a memorable vacation. One of the highlights is the easy accessibility between cities using the high-speed train, which allows visitors to maximize their time exploring rather than spending hours in transit. Sanya’s beaches like Dadonghai and Yalong Bay are renowned for their pristine waters and soft sand, perfect spots for some relaxing sunbathing or casual beach activities. Be sure to visit Yalong Bay Forest Park for a nature escape with picturesque hiking trails that reward you with stunning views. Culinary experiences play a central role in this trip. Local seafood is fresh and affordable, especially near duty-free areas like CDF mall in Sanya where dining options abound. The recommendation to revisit 老爸茶楼 in Haikou highlights the authentic dim sum culture reminiscent of old Hong Kong, offering a rich variety of dishes that give a deep dive into local flavors. For those who enjoy photography and aesthetics, spots like Tianya Town in Sanya and the unique architecture of Yundong Library in Haikou provide excellent backdrops. Café hopping along Longxing Road is a great way to unwind, sample local coffee culture, and visit cozy concept stores combining stationery with artful café spaces. Travel tips include timing your visits to shops that open later in the day (post 1 PM), and being mindful that attractions like Atlantis Sanya's sea aquarium may not meet expectations, but the inclusion of a sumptuous buffet makes the visit worthwhile. Overall, this itinerary strikes a balance between iconic tourist destinations and hidden gems, blending scenic nature, urban exploration, and delicious food. It’s an ideal plan for travelers who appreciate a mix of relaxation, culture, and gastronomy in a destination that’s rapidly gaining international attention but still retains a warm, inviting charm.
