👶 Childhood (~ 5 years old): Expressing emotions too honestly
• "No, XXX-chan! Don't play!"
• "Mom, I hate girls who say 'boo-boo'!"
Emotionally decide (because of trouble with friends), "That child is bad!"

👦 Elementary School Lower Grades (Ages 6-8): Difficulty in Relationships
• "I don't want to be with you because you're stupid, XX-kun."
"The teacher's way is really annoying!"
They complain about the group's sense of injustice, saying, "That child is just cheating!"

👧 Elementary School Upper Grades ~ (After 9 years old): Hidden Truth and Criticism of Parents
• "The kids in that group have a really bad personality."
• (To parents) "Mom doesn't understand me at all."
We suffer from the gap between our ideals and reality, and we tend to blame others and the environment.
→ 💡 trouble: It is difficult how to teach social rules and empathy for others, not emotion theory!

子どもが友達や先生の悪口を言い始めると、親としてはどう反応すべきか戸惑うことが多いですよね。私も子育て中に同じ悩みを経験しましたが、まず重要なのは子どもの感情を否定せずに受け止めることだと感じています。幼児期の子どもはまだ善悪の判断が曖昧で、感じたままを口にするので、「嫌い！」や「〇〇くんが悪い！」といった発言は感情の表現です。この段階で無理に叱ったり否定すると、子どもは話すこと自体をためらうようになります。 一方、小学校低学年になると、友人関係のもつれや集団内の不公平感からネガティブな発言が増えます。ここでは「なんでそう思うの？」と気持ちを深掘りしながら、相手の立場や感情を想像する力、つまり共感力を育てることが効果的でした。先生のことを悪く言った場合でも、まずは子どもの不満をしっかり聞いてから、解決策を一緒に考えるコミュニケーションが親子の信頼関係構築につながります。 小学校高学年以降は、自我も強くなり親への反発も出やすい時期です。子どもの言動には、実は不安や孤独感、理想と現実のギャップから来る葛藤が隠れていることが多くあります。そんな時は感情的に注意するのではなく、「そう感じているんだね」「でも社会ではこうしたルールが大切なんだよ」と社会性や共感を教える工夫が必要です。 私が心がけているのは、子どもが悪口を言った際はすぐに否定せず、まずはその「感情の名前をつける」こと。例えば「〇〇くんのことを嫌いなんだね」と共感を示してから、「どうすれば仲良くできるかな？」と建設的な話し合いに導くようにしています。そうすると子どもも自分の感情を理解されて安心し、問題解決の糸口も見えやすくなります。 また、子どもが話した内容を鵜呑みにせず、学校や他の保護者と連携して環境全体の把握をすることも重要です。子どもの話をしっかり聞きつつ、冷静に客観的な情報を集めることで、適切な対応ができます。 このように子どもの成長段階に応じて対応を変えることが、悪口やネガティブな発言から子どもの感情や社会性を育て、親子の信頼関係を深めるカギになると思います。皆さんもぜひ具体的な体験や工夫を共有して、一緒に子育ての悩みを乗り越えていきましょう。
