Crystal Lake Cafe ✨

OMG, you guys, I just had to share about my incredible trip to Crystal Lake Cafe! If you're looking for a truly unique escape from the city, this is it. It's not just a cafe; it's an experience, especially since it's perched AT 6,000ft ABOVE sea level in the stunning Angeles National Forest. I mean, how cool is that? I was skeptical at first, thinking it would be a super long drive, but it's actually OnlyonehourfromLA! Seriously, Google Maps took me right there, and the journey itself was part of the adventure. The drive up is absolutely breathtaking. You wind through these incredible Pine forests, and the air just gets crisper and cleaner with every mile. It’s such a scenic route, definitely one you'll want to take your time on and soak in the views. I even pulled over a couple of times just to snap some photos of the landscape – it reminded me of something out of a postcard! Once you arrive near by Crystal Lake, you'll spot the charming Crystal Lake Cafe. It truly feels like a hidden gem. I went on a weekday and it was wonderfully peaceful. Inside, it has this rustic, cozy vibe that’s perfect after a hike. They have a great selection of classic cafe fare – think hearty sandwiches, warm chili, and of course, coffee and hot cocoa to warm you up. I opted for their famous burger, and it totally hit the spot. It's the kind of place where you can just sit by the window, sip your drink, and watch the world go by. Speaking of hikes, this area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Crystal Lake itself is beautiful and offers easy walking trails around its perimeter. If you're feeling more adventurous, there are numerous trails branching off into the San Gabriel Mountains. I did a short loop that offered incredible panoramic views, and it was such a refreshing change of pace from city life. Remember to bring layers, even if it's warm in LA, it can be significantly cooler up at 6,000 feet! Also, cell service can be spotty, so download your maps beforehand. For anyone planning a visit, I'd recommend going earlier in the day to beat any potential crowds and to enjoy the drive in daylight. It’s also a great spot for a picnic if you want to bring your own food and enjoy it by the lake after grabbing a coffee from the cafe. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just looking for a beautiful drive and a cozy spot to relax, Crystal Lake Cafe is a must-add to your LA bucket list.
