Twa Wash Day [step-by-step]
This is my second #bigchop journey and this time I want to bring some girlies along with me. I started documenting with a few pics of my brand new twa. 🥹 If you haven’t seen it, go look!🥰
Today, I decided that I would document my current wash day routine. My hair is loving this! People have been asking me if I did a texturized and the answer is NO! This a three product miracle and I’m in love!😍 #missjessies #mielle #twa #naturalhair @#summer #washday #twahair #naturalhairstyles #Hair

Hey gorgeous! I know the TWA wash day struggle is real, especially when you're trying to achieve those perfectly defined coils like mine. When I first started my second big chop journey, I was really overwhelmed, but after a lot of trial and error (and finding my holy grail 3-product routine!), I’ve figured out how to make wash day a breeze. Here’s how I get my short natural hair looking its best, from start to finish! First things first, pre-poo and gentle detangling are lifesavers. Before hitting the shower, I love to apply a light oil (jojoba or argan work wonders for me!) to my dry hair, focusing on my ends and gently working through any tangles with my fingers or a wide-tooth comb. This really helps protect my strands during the wash and makes the whole process smoother, minimizing shedding. Next up is cleansing and scalp care. This is where that 'yellow bottle of scalp wash' magic happens! I make sure to use a sulfate-free shampoo that isn't too harsh. My focus is always on my scalp – it's the foundation for healthy hair growth, right? I gently massage the foamy product into my scalp with my fingertips, lifting away any buildup, then let the suds run down the rest of my hair without scrubbing the delicate curls too much. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Then comes the deep conditioning – arguably the most important step for luscious curls! For this, I reach for my favorite hair masque (just like the jar of hair masque shown in my pics!). I apply a generous amount, making sure every strand is coated, especially focusing on my ends where dryness can be an issue. For an extra boost, I’ll often pop on a plastic bag (my makeshift shower cap!) for 15-30 minutes. The warmth helps the conditioner penetrate deeper, leaving my hair super soft and manageable. This is essential for keeping my TWA hydrated and happy. After rinsing out the deep conditioner, it’s time for styling. This is where I layer my styling products to get that amazing definition. I start with a good leave-in conditioner, then move on to a styling custard. I apply it in small sections, raking it through and then gently scrunching to encourage my curl pattern. You can see in my photos how I work it through from the back, front, and sides to ensure even coverage. Finally, for the finishing touches and drying, I seal everything in with a light styling gel and then use my diffuser attachment on a cool setting. Diffusing on low heat and low speed helps set the curls without creating frizz, and it’s much gentler than high heat. I love how this step really locks in the definition and creates volume without disturbing my curl pattern. And there you have it! This step-by-step TWA wash day routine, using just a few key products, has truly worked wonders for my short natural hair. My hair has never felt healthier, looked more defined, or been easier to manage. Give it a try, and let me know how your curls love it!
