Hobbie

Literally one of my favorite things to do when I want to make more plants. And the great thing about it is it’s totally FREE!!!! This definitely beats spending money on another plant.

The only downfall is that this does take time.

Mint: 1 week

Lavender: 2 weeks

Monstera: 3 weeks

I will put them in dirt soon or you can leave them in water!!! #plants 🌱 #herbs #propagate #lemon8contest #AskLemon8

... Read morePropagation is a popular and rewarding hobby for plant lovers who want to expand their collection without extra cost. Propagating plants like mint, lavender, and monstera involves cutting stems and encouraging new root growth, which varies in duration depending on the plant species. Mint is known for its rapid propagation, often rooting within one week due to its resilient stem structure and fast growth pattern. Lavender takes a bit longer, typically two weeks, as it requires careful attention to moisture and temperature to encourage root development. Monstera, a trendy tropical plant, can take up to three weeks to propagate successfully, needing warm, humid conditions to thrive. To propagate these plants, cut healthy stems and place them either in water or directly into moist soil. Water propagation allows you to monitor root growth easily, while planting cuttings in soil can encourage faster adaptation once roots form. Both methods are effective, and the choice depends on your preference and environment. A common concern during propagation is the appearance of white spots or formations on the cuttings, which may be natural root hairs or residue from rooting hormones, but it’s important to ensure they are not signs of mold or pests. This hobby not only saves money by reducing the need to buy new plants but also provides a calming and educational experience. By understanding each plant’s unique rooting time and care requirements, anyone can successfully propagate plants at home, resulting in a greener living space and a satisfying connection to nature.

Propagation is so cool! I’ve been really amazed by the amount of stuff that can grow roots just by plopping it into water for a while!
