50lbs down but now I’m stuck 😫

... Read moreIt's incredibly frustrating, isn't it? You put in all that hard work, seeing the scale drop from 215 lbs all the way to 164 lbs – a massive 51 lbs loss, achieved naturally, with no surgery or shortcuts! You feel amazing, but then suddenly, it's like your body hits a brick wall. That's exactly where I am, stuck between 162-169 lbs when I still have 30 more lbs to go. It makes you wonder, 'What do I do now?' I've been doing a lot of research and reflecting on my journey, especially after seeing those images of my progress, from when I had a 'big tummy' at my heaviest to now. It's a different battle when you're dealing with those last few pounds compared to the initial big drop. One thing I've learned is that plateaus are a normal part of the weight loss journey. Our bodies are incredibly adaptable, and what worked initially might not be enough anymore. Here are a few things I'm trying or considering, and I'd love to hear if any of these have worked for you: Re-evaluate Your Calorie Intake: When you lose weight, your body needs fewer calories to maintain its new, lighter self. What worked at 215 lbs definitely isn't right for 164 lbs. I'm looking at adjusting my calorie goal downwards slightly, but very carefully, to avoid feeling deprived and triggering those 'wants to binge' feelings. Shake Up Your Workouts: My routine has been pretty consistent, but maybe my body has gotten too used to it. I'm thinking of incorporating more strength training to build muscle, which burns more calories even at rest. Or perhaps trying new forms of cardio, like high-intensity interval training (HIIT), instead of just steady-state. Prioritize Protein and Fiber: I'm focusing on making sure each meal is packed with protein and fiber. These keep me feeling fuller for longer and help manage those hunger pangs that can lead to cravings and binge urges. It also helps preserve muscle mass while I'm in a deficit. Mindful Eating & Stress Management: Honestly, when I feel stuck, it's easy to get discouraged and turn to food for comfort. I'm practicing more mindful eating – really savoring my food and paying attention to my body's hunger cues. Also, managing stress through meditation or gentle walks has been crucial because stress hormones can make weight loss harder. Focus on Non-Scale Victories: The scale can be so demotivating when it won't budge. I'm trying to celebrate other wins: my clothes fitting better, feeling stronger, having more energy, or even just sticking to my meal prep. It helps to remember that my body is still transforming, even if the numbers aren't moving right now. Hydration and Sleep: Simple but often overlooked! I'm making a conscious effort to drink more water throughout the day and aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep. Both are vital for metabolism and overall well-being. I know many of you might be looking at "weightloss images" or "before and after" examples, including those showing "10kg of fat look like," and feeling inspired, but also maybe a bit overwhelmed when you hit a wall like I have. This journey isn't linear, and it's okay to struggle. What matters is finding new strategies and keeping that motivation alive. What are your go-to tips for breaking a weight loss plateau, especially when you've come so far already?

if youve reached a plateau in your weight loss then try lowering your calories or upping your exercise. if you feel like you can’t possibly work out any more or eat any less, then take a break from your diet. still eat good, healthy foods. but try to eat more at your calculated maintenance for a few days. eat more carbs. sometimes, when you eat at a deficit for so long, your metabolism just needs a reset. that also gives you a mental reset.

Try eating 1-200 calories less per day, upping your weights or changing the type of exercise you’re doing. Sometimes we just have to switch it up a little bit.
