If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be a reader 🥺🩵

These books!!! These books mean the world to me and if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be a reader 🩵

💕 Kit McBride Gets a Wife - Literally the CUTEST book ever! Kit and Maddie are so precious and make me feel so giddy when I read this book.

💕 Marrying Off Morgan McBride - Morgan McBride is STUBBORN. Pip Hopgood is DETERMINED. The slow burn and miscommunication made me keep shaking the book and yelling: YOU LOVE EACH OTHER!!!!!!! JUST SAY IT!!!!!! I wouldn’t change a thing though because these two fit together so well.

💕 The Hunger Games trilogy - The second love triangle I read. The story had me fully wondering what it would be like to be Katniss (I know I’d never survive 🤣). I remember wanting to learn archery after this. Spoiler alert: I never did. I also remember sobbing when that one peacekeeper whipped Gale. Idk why but I was a Gale girlie 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I know now that Peeta is better.

💕 The Twilight saga - The OG love triangle!! Literally blows my mind I would read these chucky books in like two days but I guess that’s what happens when you’re in middle school with no responsibilities ✨ Also, I was Team Jacob 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have no idea why I always pick the opposite of the main girl 🤣 maybe so I can have the other LI 😆. Also, I remember loving Emmett but I knew Rosalie would literally rip my head off.

💕 The Outsiders - If you ever want to know where my heart is, it’s with The Outsiders 🥺🩵 Soda was (and still is) my fave and I also had a thing for Dally. It was the bad boy appeal for me plus he just needed some genuine love. The tears definitely came during this book and the impact it has on me is not lost. The movie adaptation also has my heart 💞

💕 Percy Jackson and the Olympians - This series will always be at the top of my fave series list. The journey Percy, Annabeth, and Grover took me on will never leave my soul. Y’all might come for me for this but I don’t care. Luke Castellan, my love, they can never make me hate you 🥺🩵

💕 Freeze Tag - Ever played freeze tag with someone who could literally freeze you? Yeah, me neither but that’s what happens when Lannie tags you. You freeze, turning into a human statue. This book is one I STILL think about to this day. It’s probably one of the first horror/thriller books I read that wasn’t Goosebumps. Definitely want to reread this asap!

💕 The Time Capsule - Another book I STILL think about to this day. Twins Alexis and Adam wrote down what they wanted to be when they grew and put it in their first grade teacher’s time capsule and during their senior year of high school, they (along with their whole first grade class) get to see what they wrote. When Adam’s leukemia comes back, no one is prepared for the following events. It’s definitely a heart wrenching read and tears will be shed. I definitely want to reread this one asap too.

What books have a special place in your heart? 🩵

... Read moreSince I talked about how much I adore 'Kit McBride Gets a Wife' and 'Marrying Off Morgan McBride,' I wanted to dive a little deeper for anyone curious about Amy Barry's writing style and what makes these books so special! Honestly, if you're looking for a cozy, heartwarming, and utterly charming historical romance with a dash of Western flair, Amy Barry is an author you absolutely need to check out. Her books, especially 'Kit McBride Gets a Wife,' are perfect examples of the mail-order bride trope done right. Kit, our gruff but secretly sweet hero, and Maddie, our determined and bright heroine, have such incredible chemistry. What I love about Amy Barry is how she crafts characters you can't help but root for, even when they're being stubborn (looking at you, Morgan McBride!). She excels at building anticipation with slow-burn romances and throws in just enough miscommunication to make you want to yell at the pages – in the best possible way! The covers, like the one for 'Kit McBride Gets a Wife,' perfectly capture that sweet, slightly old-fashioned romance vibe that makes you want to curl up with a blanket and a cup of tea. They definitely draw you into the world she creates. Beyond the romance, Barry's stories often feature strong community elements and a real sense of place, making her small-town settings feel incredibly vivid. If you enjoyed the feel of 'Kit McBride Gets a Wife,' you absolutely have to pick up 'Marrying Off Morgan McBride' next. It continues the McBride family story with Morgan and Pip's equally captivating journey. While both are standalones in terms of their main romance, reading them in order lets you revisit beloved characters and the charming world Amy Barry has built. If you're new to Amy Barry, 'Kit McBride Gets a Wife' is a fantastic entry point. Her writing is accessible, engaging, and always leaves you with a warm feeling. You can often find her books on popular e-book platforms, and she sometimes shares insights into her writing process or upcoming projects on social media or her author website, so it’s worth a quick search if you want to connect more! Have you read any of her other books? I'm always looking for more recommendations from her!
