💭 My Thoughts: Y’all were right! I get it now. I get why this one is everyone’s favorite. I’m left speechless by that ending and I’m immediately starting ACOWAR! Like in ACOTAR, I LOVE how the little things matter and how they come full circle in a sense. I love getting all this deep detail in Rhysand’s and Feyre’s story. I love getting to know the other characters more in depth too. I was sucked into the world even more this time than last and I HAD to know how it would all go. Could NOT put this book down! 1000000/10 🤩
... Read moreOkay, so you've seen the stunning cover – that beautiful teal with the black and yellow bird design, truly eye-catching, especially with the 'My Honest BOOK REVIEW' neon heart overlay! But 'A Court of Mist and Fury' is so much more than just a pretty face on your bookshelf. If you're like me, you'll be wondering why this book has such a dedicated fanbase and what makes it truly unforgettable. There's a reason it often gets a 5/5 rating, and it's not just the gorgeous aesthetic you might see on a purple wall with framed art!
For starters, the character development in ACOMAF is simply phenomenal. Feyre's journey from ACOTAR to this installment is a masterclass in growth, resilience, and self-discovery. She transforms in ways that feel incredibly authentic and empowering. And Rhysand? He's not just a love interest; his complexities, his past, and his layered motivations add so much depth to the story. I found myself completely invested in understanding their dynamic and the secrets they held, making their relationship one of the most compelling I've ever read in fantasy. It’s truly a romantasy that delivers on both fronts – the romance is palpable and earned, while the fantasy world expands in breathtaking ways that make you feel like you're truly part of it.
Speaking of the world, Sarah J. Maas has this incredible talent for weaving intricate details that come full circle. You learn more about the different Fae courts, the political intrigue, and the ancient magic that binds them, making the stakes feel incredibly high. I was constantly picking up on little clues and foreshadowing that made rereading a delight, especially knowing what was to come. It’s this level of immersive detail that makes you feel utterly present, like you're right there with Feyre, navigating the challenges, making difficult choices, and celebrating the triumphs.
Beyond the main characters, the supporting cast truly shines. Getting to know characters like Cassian, Azriel, and Mor, and seeing their loyalty and struggles, adds so many layers to the narrative. Their banter, their sacrifices, and their unwavering support for each other create a found family dynamic that warms your heart and breaks it in equal measure. If you loved the first book, prepare to be even more captivated by this installment. It’s the kind of book that leaves you breathless, with a million thoughts swirling in your head, and immediately reaching for the next in the series, just like I did with ACOWAR. Sarah J. Maas truly outdid herself with this one, proving why she's a master of the genre and why her books are a must-read for any fantasy romance fan!
