A library of classic category fiction-writing terms that have been used most often.
1.
Meaning: Peek, look carefully at the eyes, or look unconsciously.
Context: Used in scenes where a character is secretly interested in someone or is paranoid.
Example: He looks down to read a book in front of his face, but he periodically looks at the person next to him.
2. Gazing
Meaning: Look straight, blindly, conveys intense emotion.
Context: Used in a misunderstanding scene, an angry scene, or a very serious episode.
Narrative example: The master stared intently at the henchman in front of him to throttle the hidden truth.
3. Fry eyes
Meaning: Looking away aimlessly, it conveys meanness.
Context: Used to describe when a character is lonely, thinking about his back, or thinking about something.
Narrative example: A thin figure stretches his eyes out of a train window, letting old memories flow through his head.
4. Take your eyes
Meaning: Result or abandon looking from one thing to another.
Context: Use when a character is so nervous that he has to hide or has something else to draw attention to.
EXAMPLE: When the other person moves her face so close that her breath blows, she immediately takes her eyes off the other way.
5. Wao eyes
Meaning: Stiff glitter, sparkling with intense emotion.
Context: Used in scenes that are angry, manipulated, or have a force committed to destruction.
Narrative example: That pair of shiny eyes stared back as if ready to scorch everything that stood in their way into kinetic.
