Embarking on a healthcare career is a journey filled with learning and growth. My story reflects the diverse paths you can take, starting from graduating with a B.A. in Psychology in 2020. After diving into EMT school, I embraced the challenges of working on an ambulance, which laid a solid foundation for my future in healthcare. In 2022, I took another leap, enrolling in phlebotomy school and securing a position as an ER tech. This role offered firsthand exposure to the medical field, deepening my understanding of patient care and clinical procedures. In 2023, I began fulfilling pre-requisites essential for nursing school, mainly focused on science courses, preparing myself academically for the challenges ahead. Applying to nursing schools out of state was a bold step that allowed me to explore new opportunities while pursuing my passion. During my time on campus, I became heavily involved in various activities, serving as a Cohort Representative and Mentor Liaison, and even earning a nomination for the prestigious Daisy Award—a recognition for extraordinary nurses. Currently, I am thrilled to have landed a position as a nurse extern in preoperative, postoperative, and operating room settings. This role is invaluable, providing clinical experience that will be crucial for my future career as a nurse. As I continue on this journey, I encourage those interested in healthcare to stay true to their passion and remain open to new experiences along the way. The path to becoming a nurse is filled with hard work, dedication, and most importantly, a commitment to caring for others.
