... Read moreHey everyone! I’m so excited to share Day 20 of my 'Critters of Pride' series with you all. This time, I've channeled my creativity into this adorable omnisexual duck, bringing the vibrant colors of the Omnisexual Pride Flag to life on my sketchbook page. It's more than just a drawing; it's a celebration of identity and love, and I wanted to take a moment to dive deeper into what omnisexuality truly means. So, what exactly is omnisexuality? Simply put, omnisexual individuals are attracted to people of all genders, but unlike pansexuality, they do acknowledge gender in their attraction. This means that while they can be attracted to men, women, and non-binary individuals, their attraction can manifest differently depending on the person's gender. It’s about recognizing and appreciating the spectrum of gender identities while still being open to attraction across all of them. It's a beautiful and expansive way of experiencing love and connection. Let's talk about the gorgeous Omnisexual Pride Flag that inspired this duck art! You might notice the distinct stripes: Pink: Represents attraction to women. Dark Blue: Represents attraction to men. Purple (middle stripe): Represents attraction to non-binary individuals, and the blending of attraction to men and women. These colors, beautifully blended in my hand-drawn duck with its purple head, blue chest, and pink body with blue speckles, truly symbolize the inclusivity and breadth of omnisexual attraction. Seeing these colors together always reminds me of the rich tapestry of human experience and connection. You might also come across terms like 'berrisexual' or 'omnsexual' when searching for information. It's easy for terms to get misspelled or confused! If you've seen 'berrisexual,' it's likely a common typo for other similar identities, or perhaps a niche term that hasn't gained widespread recognition. The most commonly accepted and recognized term in the LGBTQ+ community for attraction to all genders, while acknowledging gender, is 'omnisexual' or 'pansexual' (where pansexuality is often described as 'gender-blind' attraction). It’s always great to learn the correct terminology to help foster understanding and respect within our diverse communities. My goal with this series is to create cute, accessible art that also helps raise awareness and understanding about different identities within the LGBTQ+ community. I wholeheartedly believe that the more we learn and share, the more inclusive and loving our world becomes. This omnisexual duck is a little beacon of that hope, floating on its wavy white lines, reminding us that love is love, in all its wonderful forms. Keep spreading kindness and celebrating your true self!
