ENDO MYTHS

MYTH: ENDOMETRIOSIS GOES AWAY AFTER A HYSTERECTOMY.

FACT: ENDOMETRIOSIS IS A LIFELONG CHRONIC ILLNESS AND AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE, THAT EFFECTS YOUR HEALTH.

My Motto:

I FIGHT STRONG

IF YOU HAVE SURGERY OR NOT IT WILL ALWAYS GROW BACK. HAVING A HYSTERECTOMY WILL NOT HELP IT CAN JUST END UP COMING BACK AND GROWING INTO DIFFERENT PARTS OF YOUR BODY LIKE YOUR LUNGS, BRAIN ECT. #endometriosis #unfiltered #endomarch #endometriosisawareness💛

3/12 Edited to

... Read moreLiving with endometriosis has been a challenging journey for me, and one important lesson I've learned is that this condition is much more complex than many realize. Although some believe that a hysterectomy can cure endometriosis, the truth is quite different. Endometriosis involves endometrial-like tissue growing outside the uterus, meaning the disease can persist or even worsen despite removing the uterus. From my experience, symptoms such as pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, and painful intercourse do not necessarily vanish after surgery. In fact, many women find that their symptoms return or new areas become affected over time, including organs like the bladder, bowel, and even rarely the lungs or brain. This unpredictability makes ongoing management essential. I also want to emphasize the importance of comprehensive care that goes beyond surgery. Consulting with knowledgeable doctors who understand endometriosis as a systemic, autoimmune disease can open up options like hormonal therapies, pain management strategies, and lifestyle modifications that help improve quality of life. In my own fight strong motto, I’ve learned that empowerment comes from awareness and connecting with communities who share their stories. Endometriosis Awareness Month in March is a great time to increase understanding and break myths surrounding this chronic illness. If you or someone you love is dealing with endometriosis, know you’re not alone, and managing it requires persistence, support, and a holistic approach.
