... Read moreHey everyone! I'm so excited to share this awesome find with you – a completely free 40-page digital coloring book that's perfect for your iPad and Procreate! Digital coloring has become my go-to for unwinding, and finding high-quality free coloring pages like these is just the best.
Getting your hands on this amazing free digital coloring book from Coco Wyo is super straightforward. First, head over to the link provided in the original post. Once you're on the Coco Wyo beacons.ai page, scroll down until you spot the section for '40 Digital Free Coloring Pages' – watch out for a highlighted section or a banner, sometimes it even says 'September, 2024' which is when this particular pack was released! Don't miss it. Click the download icon next to it; it’ll prompt you to save a PDF file. Don't worry, it's super quick! Once downloaded, you'll see an option to 'Open In...' Choose Procreate from the list of apps. Voila! The entire 40-page coloring book will import directly into your Procreate gallery, ready for you to dive in. It's truly that simple to get your free digital coloring book on your iPad.
Now, for those of you who, like me, sometimes struggle with keeping your colors neat or managing those Procreate layers, I wanted to share a few tips I've picked up, especially when working with detailed digital coloring book designs:
My Top Procreate Tips for a Seamless Coloring Experience:
Staying Perfectly Within the Lines: My absolute favorite trick for staying perfectly within the lines is using the 'Reference' feature. Just set your line art layer (the imported coloring page) as a reference layer. Then, on your new coloring layer, you can use the 'ColorDrop' tool, and it magically fills only within the lines! For more intricate areas or if ColorDrop doesn't quite get it, I often use the 'Selection' tool (either automatic or freehand) to isolate the area before coloring. Another great tip is using 'Alpha Lock' on a layer. Once you've laid down your base color, tap the layer and select 'Alpha Lock.' Now, anything you draw or paint on that specific layer will only appear where there are already pixels, keeping your colors perfectly contained.
Saving Layer Space: We all know Procreate can be a layer hog, especially on older iPads or with complex files! To save precious layer space, I often merge layers once I'm happy with a section – for example, I'll merge my base color layer and its shadow layer after I'm done. Just pinch two layers together or tap the top layer and select 'Merge Down.' Instead of creating new layers for every single shadow or highlight, try using 'Clipping Masks.' Create a new layer directly above your base color, tap it, and choose 'Clipping Mask.' Now, whatever you draw or paint on this new layer will only show up on the pixels of the layer directly below it, effectively saving you layers by stacking effects on fewer base layers. Also, if you're importing text or vector shapes and don't plan on editing them further, remember to 'Rasterize' them. This converts them into pixels and often frees up layer count.
Beyond Coco Wyo's fantastic free pages, the world of digital coloring is huge! If you're looking for more, you can often find free printable iPad coloring pages on various artist websites or platforms like Etsy. Many artists also offer paid packs that are well worth the investment for endless fun. And for those who love apps, there are tons of digital coloring book apps available for tablets. Some even offer free daily pages or subscription models. Don't forget about Goodnotes coloring pages either – some people love using that app for a more bullet journal style coloring experience. Whether you're into intricate designs or simple patterns, having a digital coloring book on your tablet, especially an iPad with Procreate, makes it so convenient to unleash your creativity anywhere, anytime. Happy coloring!
