For the past 3 years, I’ve had the honor of holding my favorite title… Teacher LaQualla, also known as “Teacher Mommy.” 🤍

After a 7 year break from the classroom, returning to teach at my twin daughters’ school became one of the most transformative seasons of my life. Not only did I get to watch my own girls grow, but I also had the privilege of loving, teaching, and pouring into so many incredible little minds as they grew from toddlers into rising Kindergarteners. To my UUMP family: the staff, the parents, and every sweet student who crossed my classroom door, THANK YOU! Thank you for trusting me with your babies. Thank you for supporting me and my family so deeply during these past few years. The love poured back into me never went unnoticed. Leaving this chapter is emotional because it meant so much to me. I will truly miss the hugs, the laughter, the tiny voices calling my name, and the community that made this experience unforgettable.

Forever grateful for every moment. 🤍

... Read moreReturning to the classroom after several years away can be both challenging and rewarding. From my personal experience, stepping back into preschool teaching allowed me to witness firsthand the incredible milestones young children achieve—like learning their ABCs, starting to recognize shapes, and building social skills. These early educational moments are vital because they lay the foundation for a child's confidence and curiosity. One memorable part of this journey was observing how each child developed at their own pace, reminding me that patience and individualized attention are key in early education. Whether it was helping a shy toddler find their voice or celebrating the joyful outburst when a child mastered a new song, these experiences enriched my days and reinforced my passion for teaching. The close community of parents, teachers, and staff created an environment of trust and support. Sharing updates, celebrating successes, and navigating challenges together made the year truly special. As I said goodbye to my preschoolers, the many hugs and calls by name reminded me of the deep connections formed. For anyone considering a return to teaching or entering early childhood education, I encourage embracing the emotional highs and lows because they cultivate growth not just for the children, but for educators as well. The love, laughter, and learning captured during this time are memories I will carry forever.
