Majority of these items here are the things I told myself I needed to create content which was a big fat lie lol.
A lot of times we lie to ourselves thinking that we need certain items or an aesthetic to create content when that is not the case.
I bought a camera because I didn’t think my iPhone was good enough but long behold a lot of my content is filmed on my iPhone 13 lol (dont get me wrong i love my sonyzv1 tho)
I bought a ring light & soft boxes because I thought they’ll be amazing for my content, but in reality all I needed was one good LED light attachment
I bought $200+ mics because I thought they would make my content sound more crisp but every single time I create content, I tend to forget about them.

However, as noted in this article, simplicity often yields the best results. For those just starting out, a high-quality smartphone camera, like the iPhone 13, can produce striking visuals without the need for bulky setups or extra expenses. A good LED light is often underestimated yet can significantly enhance video quality, offering better illumination than traditional ring lights or softboxes.
Moreover, investing in sound equipment, such as quality microphones, may seem necessary, but many successful content creators discover that they often overlook these items during their filming processes. For practicality, focus on tools that promote ease of use and enable creativity without overcomplicating the setup.
Ultimately, the best approach is to prioritize what's truly functional. Rather than getting caught up in trends or aesthetics, concentrating on creating authentic, engaging content should remain the primary goal. By embracing a more minimalist mindset regarding tools and gadgets, content creators can streamline their work processes and focus on what matters the most—connecting with their audience.
