And still⦠We Riseš¤
They can redraw the lines, but they cannot redraw the blood.
They can move the borders, twist the maps, split the streets, pack us into corners, and call it law.
But we have seen colder rooms than this.
We have walked through doors that were nailed shut. We have carried names they tried to bury and still spoke them out loud.
They tried to count us out before we could count ourselves in. Tried to make our voices small. Tried to turn our vote into a whisper.
But my people know something this country keeps forgetting.
We were never born from comfort.
We were shaped in storms, raised under pressure, and taught to breathe where the air was thin.
And still, we rise.
Not because the road is fair. Not because justice always answers when we call her name.
We rise because our grandmothers did. Because our grandfathers did. Because somebody prayed with a tired body and still got up in the morning.
The ballot was never just paper.
It was a voice. A witness. Proof that we were here, that we mattered, and that our children deserved a say in the world waiting for them.
So let them draw their maps. Let them sharpen their pens. Let them hide behind robes and polished words.
We know what this is.
A setback dressed up like procedure.
A warning wrapped in legal language.
But hear me clearly.
You cannot legislate away a people who survived being erased.
You cannot silence a people who learned to sing in chains.
You cannot bury a people whose roots run deeper than the country that tried to own them.
So do not let this make you tired without making you awake.
Do not let this make you bitter without making you focused.
Do not let this make you hopeless.
Because every time they try to set us back, they expose what they fear.
A people who still know how to rise.
And we will.
Again and again.
