Flow yoga challenge day 5
Flow Day 5 of my 30 day yoga challenge was "Represent". This day was slightly shorter and easier than the other days, but I noticed my mind wandering, and that I didn't feel as present.
It wasn't Yoga With Adrien's fault, the practice was great. I just wasn't engaging my mind and body as much, and brought my exhaustion and self doubt to the mat. I didn't even film because I just didn't feel like it.
But I have to remind myself, the important part is still just showing up and striving to be better, always giving myself forgiveness and grace.
It's so incredibly relatable what you shared about your Day 5 of the 30-day yoga challenge! We all have those days when getting on the mat feels like a chore, and our minds just refuse to settle. It's easy to feel defeated when your focus isn't there, or when self-doubt starts whispering in your ear, especially when you're following a fantastic guide like Yoga With Adriene. For me, those mental roadblocks are often tougher than any physical pose. When my mind starts wandering during a flow, I've found a few simple tricks that sometimes help bring me back. One is really zoning in on my breath – counting inhales and exhales, or just noticing the sensation of air moving in and out. Another is setting a tiny, simple intention for my practice, even if it's just 'be here now' or 'move with kindness.' It's not about perfection, but gentle self-correction and reminding myself that every moment of presence is a win. Your point about 'showing up' is absolutely everything. Some days, showing up is 90% of the battle, and the actual practice is secondary. I've had many 'Flow Day 5s' where I felt awkward in a low lunge, or just couldn't hold a balance pose. But the act of unrolling my yoga mat, putting on my favorite comfortable yoga attire – whether it's those fun constellation pants or a comfy cartoon t-shirt – and dedicating that time to myself, even imperfectly, has been transformative. It’s a powerful lesson in self-compassion and persistence. If you're finding yourself distracted or uncomfortable, sometimes it's also helpful to check your physical setup. Is your mat providing enough grip? Are your clothes allowing you to move freely and feel confident in every pose? Feeling good in what you're wearing can make a huge difference in how present you feel. And remember, modifications are always your friend! If a pose feels too intense, it's okay to ease off and find a variation that works for your body that day. 30-day yoga challenges are incredible for building consistency and resilience, but they also highlight our humanity. There will be days of pure bliss and days of mental wrestling. The real victory isn't mastering every pose, but learning to navigate those internal struggles with forgiveness and grace, just as you said. Keep showing up, keep breathing, and remember that every practice, no matter how it feels, is a step forward in your fitness and self-discovery journey!
