Rate my nails with me pt.1

Hey everyone! So many of you loved my 'Rate My Nails' post, and I got tons of questions about why I gave certain ratings, plus what makes a manicure truly stand out. I wanted to dive a little deeper into my nail journey and share some extra tips and thoughts, especially since we all want our nails to look good, whether we're rocking 'Nissan nails' behind the wheel or out on the town! First up, let's chat about those light blue-green square nails I rated 5/10. The color was super cute and trendy, but honestly, they chipped quickly, which is always such a bummer! It made me realize how crucial a good base and top coat are, especially if you're active with your hands. Now, I always make sure to reapply a clear top coat every couple of days to really seal in the color and give my mani extra life. Lesson learned! Then there were the sparkly orange almond-shaped nails which got a solid 7/10. The shimmer was so fun and bright, perfect for a sunny day! Almond is such a chic shape, giving a really elegant look, but sometimes I find they can be a bit more prone to snagging if the filing isn't perfect. Still, the color was a definite mood booster. My absolute favorite, the clear pinkish short square nails, were a perfect 10/10! They were so natural, clean, and just looked effortlessly healthy. Sometimes simplicity is key, and these lasted ages without a single chip. It's my go-to for a classic, effortless look that never disappoints. Now, for the French tip square nails, they got a 7.5/10. I rated them 'basic' not because they weren't pretty, but because I was craving something a bit more unique at the time. However, I later tried French tip nails with small rhinestones and those were a definite 10/10! Adding a little sparkle is such an easy way to elevate a timeless style and make it feel special. It's amazing what a small detail can do. And who could forget the red and pink Christmas design? That 9/10 was well-deserved! Festive nails are always a blast, and playing with themed colors like that really gets you into the holiday spirit. I've found that intricate designs often benefit from a strong gel top coat to protect them and prevent smudging, making them last through all the holiday festivities. Many of you also noticed my 'Nissan nails' – yes, I often snap my nail pics right in my car! It's usually where I notice how my nails are holding up during my daily routine, and that steering wheel makes for a pretty consistent backdrop. It actually makes me think about how my nails look in motion, in everyday life. For all of you who also love showing off your nails on the go, make sure your lighting is good and you're comfortable for that quick snap! When I'm deciding what to get next, I always consider my lifestyle. Do I need something super durable for a busy week? Or am I going for a fun, short-term look for an event? Coffin-shaped ombre nails (like the white to clear glitter ones I rated 8/10, though they were a bit too long for me for everyday!) are gorgeous for special occasions, but I usually prefer shorter, more practical lengths for daily wear. The bright turquoise blue (5/10, not my favorite color choice!) and solid white (a classic, 6/10) were fun experiments, but sometimes you just know what works best for you. To keep your nails looking fresh, don't forget cuticle oil! It makes such a difference in how long your manicure lasts and how healthy your nails feel. And a good hand cream is a must, especially if your hands are always in photos like mine!
