NCLEX STUDY TIPS

NCLEX STUDY TIPS- I took the NCLEX last week and passed on first attempt, here are a few things I learned:

- The questions are a perfect world scenario, remember that all hospital/staff resources are available

- All the info you need to answer the question is in there- don’t make the question more than it is by adding “what if’s”

- Focus on areas you need to review. You know what you know, it’s likely you won’t learn any new information

- You aren’t going to know everything, and that’s ok. Make your best judgement by using frameworks (ABCs, urgent vs non-urgent, expected vs unexpected, etc.)

- Know how to prioritize! There are sooo many prioritization questions (whether it’s who to see first, or which action to take first)

- Don’t stress about the number of questions you receive. Many of people pass whether they get 85 or 150 questions!

- Practice questions are your best friend! I recommend using ATIs NCLEX practice exams because they simulate what you’ll see on test day!

- Take a deep breath, you got this! You’re meant to do hard things- you made it through nursing school after all!

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!

... Read morePreparing for the NCLEX can be daunting, but with the right approach, you can set yourself up for success! Utilizing comprehensive resources like the 'Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination' can be incredibly beneficial. This review book not only reflects the latest NCLEX-RN exam test plan but also offers a wealth of practice questions across various formats, ensuring you are well-prepared for the types of questions you will encounter on test day. In addition to books, integrating visual learning tools can enhance your study sessions. For example, charts or infographics related to key nursing concepts and disease processes can help solidify your understanding. Engaging with interactive platforms that simulate the NCLEX environment, such as ATI and UWorld, can provide you with a realistic experience of the testing atmosphere. Furthermore, focusing on high-yield topics and practicing prioritization through case studies can improve your clinical decision-making skills, which are crucial for NCLEX success. Remember, it’s okay to not know everything; instead, trust your instincts and leverage the knowledge you’ve accumulated during nursing school. Lastly, building a support system with fellow nursing students can boost your morale. Share insights, exchange resources, and practice together. By collaborating, you're less likely to feel overwhelmed and more likely to approach the NCLEX with confidence!
