MY FIRST TIME... making Sunny Side Up! ☀️
POV: I’ve literally never made (or eaten?!) a sunny side up egg before 👀
Come with me as I attempt my very first one… and yes, we’re tasting it too. First impressions loading 🤍🍳 #recipecollection #lemon8partner #sunnysideup #myfirsttime
1. Heat a non-stick pan over low-medium heat
2. Add 1 tbsp of sweet cream butter (everywhere I look, unsalted butter or olive oil are the go-tos but I wanted to try something different)
3. Once butter covers the whole surface, gently add the egg to the pan
4. Cook for 2-3 min, spooning the melted butter over the egg white until cooked
5. Sprinkle with Himalayan pink salt and pepper
BONUS TIP:
I served on a piece of toast with melted swiss cheese, and topped with cholula. It was devine 😋
Trying sunny side up eggs for the first time can be a little intimidating, especially when the goal is to keep the yolk intact and achieve that delicate texture. I found that using sweet cream butter instead of the usual unsalted butter or olive oil really elevated the flavor and gave the eggs a nice, rich finish. While cooking, spooning the melted butter over the egg whites helped them cook evenly without overcooking, ensuring the yolk stayed runny and delicious. I also experimented with seasoning — using Himalayan pink salt brought a subtle mineral note that complemented the freshness of the egg. Adding freshly ground pepper and a dash of Cholula hot sauce gave it just the right kick, proving that sunny side up eggs are versatile and can easily be customized to suit your taste buds. One tip I learned is to cook on low to medium heat patiently; the goal is to avoid crispy edges or rubbery whites. Serving the egg on a piece of toast topped with melted Swiss cheese was a game changer for me, adding creaminess and making the meal a perfect balance of textures and flavors. If you’re new to sunny side up eggs or looking to try a slight twist on the classic, give this method a shot. It’s simple, approachable, and the results are incredibly satisfying — whether you’re enjoying it for breakfast or a quick snack. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your seasonings and toppings, as experimenting is part of the fun in cooking your very first sunny side up egg.
