First Trimester Cravings

I've been on a health and fitness journey for several years now so it's weird having to just eat whatever I can keep down and handle, but I thought it'd be fun to share my first trimester survival foods so far.

1. Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes Bowls. I decided to try these because they're pretty bland in flavor and with the morning sickness I really just needed something bland, but kind of filling. I definitely over did it with these now and am sick of eating them.

2. I decided to try these after becoming sick of the mashed potatoes and ended up being able to handle them pretty well, but I also got sick of eating these.

3. Blueberry bagels with whipped mixed berry cream cheese. I was in the mood for some bagels one day so this is what I tried and it was really great for a few days and then all of a sudden the flavor started making me sick and I couldn't handle it anymore.

4. A McChicken and fries from McDonald's. Honestly I was pretty surprised about this one. I haven't really been able to handle meat at all, especially if it's seasoned, but so far I love these and they don't make me sick.

5. Strawberry Protein Cheerios. I haven't eaten these in a while, but I used to keep a box on my nightstand so as soon as I woke up I could eat some. I would wake up feeling so hungry that it made me feel sick so having these at an easy access was so helpful.

6. Soft Pretzels and Cheese Dip is my newest craving. I just thought about them one day and was like "that honestly sounds so good." After I tried them I realized they were really good and I made sure to get some to keep at home.

7. Mountain Dew Baja Blast has honestly been the holy Grail of all of my cravings so far. I've been a good little tot and making sure I only have one or two a day. I've been really struggling with drinking anything, but Baja blast is just THAT girl right now.

Many women experience heightened sensitivities to tastes and odors, making typical meals unappealing. In this journey, bland foods often become staples, as they are easier on the stomach. For instance, mashed potatoes are a popular choice due to their neutrality and comforting texture. Foods that are high in carbohydrates, like bagels or Cheerios, can also help curb nausea while providing energy. A balanced approach to snacking can aid in keeping nutrition levels up without overwhelming your senses. Protein-rich options, such as soft pretzels paired with cheese dip, not only satisfy cravings but also contribute to daily protein needs. Remember to stay hydrated, as many women find that flavored sparkling waters or very mild sodas, like Mountain Dew Baja Blast, help with fluid intake when plain water feels unappealing. Listening to your body and its cravings during this delicate time is crucial. Embrace the journey with patience and creativity in the kitchen, experimenting with different textures and flavors as you find what works best for you. Always consult with your healthcare provider about your dietary choices to ensure you and your baby are getting the best nutrients possible during this special time.
