How my INFJ side shows up in my decor 🍋
I'm an INFJ & you can definitely tell in the way I have designed my home. INFJs tend to be creative, empathetic and introverted. I love recharging solo and making sure my home feels like a haven is so important. A perfect recharging day for me is curling up on the couch, turning on the fireplace and reading a good book - so I had to make myself the perfect cozy living room.
Creatively, my house became my biggest project. I love being able to express myself and feelings by taking on a new project. If I'm overwhelmed, you'll probably find me repainting my kitchen cabinets or refinishing a piece of thrifted furniture - it's my favorite outlet.#lemon8partner #homedesign #homepersonality
For fellow INFJs, you know how crucial it is to have that dedicated space to truly unwind and process. My living room, with its soft lighting and plush throws, is a prime example, but I've found extending this philosophy to other areas makes a huge difference. Think about carving out a specific reading nook with a comfortable chair, a small side table for your tea, and a good reading lamp. Or maybe a quiet corner for meditation or journaling, perhaps near a window where you can gaze at nature. It's not just about a comfy couch; it's about intentionally designing zones that cater to your need for solitude and reflection. I personally love having a designated spot where I can just be without any external demands, whether it's sketching or simply enjoying a moment of peace. One of the most fulfilling ways my INFJ creativity shines through is in my love for DIY and upcycling. My home isn't just decorated; it's a living canvas of ongoing projects! Instead of always buying new, I find so much joy and a fantastic outlet for my feelings in transforming thrifted furniture or even repainting a tired cabinet. It’s an exercise in bringing new life to something old and making it uniquely *mine*. This artistic expression isn't just limited to big projects; it's also in how I play with pattern, texture, and color. Mixing different fabrics, adding unique wall decor, or even arranging fresh flowers in an unusual vase are all ways I infuse personality and a sense of a fun environment into my space without breaking the bank. Beyond the visual, the feel of a space is paramount for an INFJ. I've learned that adding accessories that promote relaxation are a must for creating that deep sense of calm. This means carefully selecting soft blankets, tactile rugs, and even the right kind of lighting. Warm, dimmable lights transform a room instantly, making it feel more intimate and less harsh. And let’s not forget scents! A diffuser with essential oils or a favorite candle can elevate the atmosphere, helping to soothe an overstimulated mind. For me, the gentle flicker of a candle by the bathtub is pure bliss after a long day. It’s about creating an overall sensory experience that nurtures the soul. Even though I cherish my alone time, my deep care for others means I want anyone entering my home to feel genuinely comfortable and welcome. This is why having a welcoming, cozy guest room that's ready to host someone at a moment's notice is so important to me. It's not just about a clean bed; it's about anticipating needs. I ensure there are fresh towels, a small carafe of water, perhaps a good book, and even a little basket with travel-sized toiletries. These small touches speak volumes and allow guests to feel truly at home, reflecting that inherent INFJ empathy. It’s about creating a space where they can relax and feel cared for, just as I would want to feel. Finally, I've learned that an INFJ home is rarely 'finished'. It's an evolving reflection of our inner world. As we grow and change, so too does our space. Don't be afraid to rearrange, repurpose, or repaint. My home is a constant dialogue between my current self and my environment, always striving to be that ultimate haven where I can truly thrive. This organic approach keeps my home feeling authentic and deeply personal, a true extension of my INFJ spirit.
