3 easy projects to do this weekend

Update your light fixtures! This is a relatively easy swap if you’re comfortable with electrical work, if not, it’s a quick project to hire someone for. Light fixtures can make a huge difference in your space and will take just an hour or so to replace.

Apply peel and stick wallpaper. Peel and stick wallpaper has become popular for great reasons! It’s renter friendly, affordable and easy to install. I got mine from Amazon and spent less than $150 on wallpaper for my bathroom.

Add some accents with paint! I painted my closet door a deep red burgundy color on a whim and it’s become my favorite accent piece in my bedroom. It was a fun project that took a few hours but added a big impact to my white walls!

Updating your light fixtures is a great way to change the ambiance and style of any room. Whether you feel comfortable handling basic electrical tasks or prefer hiring a professional, swapping out dated fixtures can dramatically improve lighting and make your space feel more modern. Popular choices include LED fixtures for energy efficiency and smart lights that you can control from your phone. Peel and stick wallpaper has gained popularity among renters and homeowners alike because of its ease of installation and removal. This option allows you to add texture, pattern, or even a pop of color to your walls without the commitment or cost of traditional wallpaper. You'll find many options online or in stores, often priced affordably under $150 for a bathroom or small room. When choosing wallpaper, consider patterns that match the room's style and complement your existing décor. Adding accents with paint can be as simple as giving a closet door or a small wall a bold new color. A deep burgundy, navy, or forest green can create a focal point and add warmth to a white or neutral room. Use such accents sparingly for maximum effect. Painting is an accessible project that allows for creativity and personal expression while being manageable for those new to DIY. By combining these three projects—light fixture update, peel and stick wallpaper application, and accent painting—you can significantly elevate your home's look over a weekend. These projects are particularly renter-friendly, budget-conscious, and cater to various skill levels. Remember to gather all necessary materials beforehand and allocate your time to ensure the projects remain enjoyable and stress-free. Happy decorating!
