Fall frame art

I was about to throw out this broken frame, but decided to try a fall / Halloween theme diy & it turned out SO good! I used dollar tree hands to hold the candles & it looks so chic on display on my front table!

... Read moreYou know that feeling when you're about to throw something out, but then inspiration strikes? That's exactly how I felt with an old, broken frame. Instead of letting it go to waste, I decided to give it a new life as a fun fall and Halloween decor piece, and honestly, it turned out even better than I imagined! If you loved the idea of transforming a simple frame into something spooky and chic, you're in for a treat because there are so many more Halloween frame ideas and fall framed wall art concepts to explore. Beyond just adding eerie hands, think about what other elements can turn a plain frame into a Halloween masterpiece. For my next project, I'm thinking of creating some haunted portrait frames. You can easily print out old-timey photos, give them a ghostly filter, and then distress the frames with some dark paint or faux cobwebs. Another super easy idea is to use black cardstock to cut out spooky silhouettes—think bats, witches on brooms, or a haunted house—and place them behind the glass. Add a little battery-operated LED light strip behind the silhouette, and you've got a glowing, ghostly piece of art! Don't forget about adding small plastic spiders or creepy-crawlies directly onto the frame for an extra touch of fright. When it comes to fall framed wall art, the possibilities are equally endless and wonderfully cozy. Instead of just candles, imagine filling a frame with pressed autumn leaves collected from your backyard. You can arrange them in a beautiful mosaic or simply display a few perfect specimens. Another charming idea is to create a burlap or plaid fabric background (hello, Dollar Tree fabric scraps!) and then glue on small faux pumpkins, acorns, or even some rustic twine. For a more elegant touch, print out beautiful fall-themed quotes or watercolor illustrations and pop them into some thrift store frames that you've given a fresh coat of cream or gold paint. Mixing textures and natural elements truly brings the warmth of autumn indoors. My favorite part about these DIY frame projects is how budget-friendly they are. Dollar Tree is a goldmine for supplies: those plastic skeleton hands, small LED candles, fake flowers, craft foam, and even small picture frames. Don't overlook thrift stores for unique, pre-loved frames that often have interesting details you can highlight with a bit of paint. You can also find affordable craft paper, paint, and hot glue guns there. The key is to see the potential in everyday items and let your creativity take over. Making these pieces is genuinely simple. For the spooky hands, I just hot-glued them inside the frame, making sure they were sturdy enough to hold the lightweight LED candles. For other framed art, you'll mainly need scissors, glue, and whatever decorative elements you choose. If you're using paint, a few thin coats with drying time in between will give you the best finish. For a distressed look, lightly sand the edges after painting. These aren't just crafts; they’re unique home accents that reflect your personality. Once your fall or Halloween frame art is complete, think about where it will shine. Cluster a few different frames of varying sizes and themes on a mantelpiece, or create a spooky gallery wall in your entryway. A single statement frame can be the perfect centerpiece on a console table, just like mine with the candle-holding hands. These DIY projects are a fantastic way to add seasonal flair without breaking the bank, and they’re so rewarding to create. I'm already brainstorming my next framed art project for the holidays!
