Aroace White Chocolate Cookies 🧡💛🤍🩵💙
WHITE CHOCOLATE DOUGH
113g unsalted butter
75g sugar
2tsp vanilla paste
1 tsp salt
90g melted white chocolate
1 egg yolk
210g all purpose flour
Orange, yellow, white, light blue, blue gel food dye
Preheat your oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
Using a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or using a hand mixer) beat unsalted butter, sugar, vanilla, salt, and melted chocolate until the mixture is creamy and light, scrape down sides of the bowl as needed (about 3 min). Add egg yolk and mix until well combined. Add the flour and mix until a dough forms.
Divide the dough into five equal portions (about 100g each) and dye each a different color (orange, yellow, white, light blue and blue). Flatten each portion into approximately a 3” x 3” square. Wrap each shaped portion in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about 15-30min. Stack the dough with blue on the bottom, followed by light blue, white, yellow, and finally orange. Gently press the dough together and shape into a log with sharp edges. Freeze the log for approximately 15-20 minutes.
Cut the block into about 8-10 cookies Transfer the cookies to the sheet and bake for 12-15 min depending on thickness of the cookies and desired crunch level.
I absolutely love making these Aroace White Chocolate Cookies, not just because they're incredibly delicious, but also because they carry such a wonderful message of representation! When I first discovered the idea of baking with the Aroace flag colors – orange, yellow, white, light blue, and blue – I knew I had to try it. It's a beautiful way to celebrate identity and share a sweet treat with friends, whether they're part of the Aroace community or just appreciate a unique, colorful cookie. One thing I've learned through trial and error is that getting those vibrant, distinct layers can be a bit of an art! For the food dyes, I recommend using gel food coloring over liquid. Gel colors are much more concentrated, so you need less, and they won't thin out your dough as much. When you're dividing and coloring the dough, make sure to knead each portion until the color is completely uniform. It might take a few minutes, but it's worth it for that striking visual effect. The chilling process is also super important. Don't skip it! Chilling the individual dough squares for 15-30 minutes helps them firm up, making them easier to handle and stack without colors bleeding. And when you're stacking them, be gentle but firm when pressing them together to form the log. I find gently rolling the log on a flat surface after shaping helps to fuse the layers without distorting the square edges too much. If your kitchen is warm, you might want to chill the stacked log a bit longer than the suggested 15-20 minutes to ensure it's firm enough for clean slices. A sharp, non-serrated knife is your best friend when cutting the cookies to get those crisp lines. What if your cookies spread too much? This often happens if your butter was too soft or your dough wasn't chilled enough. Next time, try chilling the dough longer, or even popping the cut cookies back into the fridge for 10 minutes before baking. If they're too hard, you might have overbaked them. Keep an eye on them towards the end of the baking time; they should be just set and slightly golden at the edges, but still soft in the center when you pull them out, as they'll continue to firm up as they cool. To make these cookies even more special, you can experiment with variations! I sometimes add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking to enhance the white chocolate flavor. You could also mix in some chopped nuts, dried cranberries, or even mini chocolate chips into the white dough base before dividing and coloring it. Just be mindful not to overdo it, as too many additions can make the dough harder to shape. These Aroace White Chocolate Cookies are perfect for pride events, potlucks, or just a cozy afternoon treat. They always get compliments for their unique look and delicious taste. Give this recipe a try, and don't be afraid to add your own personal touch!
