Apple Crisp

My first recipe from my baking bingo this season. i have other things crossed off but they didn’t require revolted (apple cider, psl, etc.)

all you have to do is spread the apple mix in a greased baking pan, add the crisp topping, and bake in a preheated oven at 350° for 45 minutes

Additional tips/notes:

using browned butter instead of cubed or melted butter will give it a nuttier flavor

melt butter on low to medium heat on the stovetop until butter becomes brown and sizzles

... Read moreApple Crisp is a timeless dessert that beautifully combines tart apples with a sweet, crunchy topping. One crucial way to elevate this classic is by using browned butter in the crisp topping, as browned butter adds a deep, nutty richness that enhances the overall flavor profile. To brown butter, melt it slowly over low to medium heat until it foams and turns a golden brown color, releasing a warm, toasted aroma. This simple technique can take your apple crisp to the next level. When selecting apples, varieties like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn work wonderfully due to their balance of tartness and sweetness. Peeling and slicing the apples uniformly ensures even baking and a pleasing texture. The crisp topping typically involves ingredients such as oats, flour, brown sugar, and butter. Adding a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or finely grated lemon zest, as suggested by the OCR content mentioning "6 lemon oats", can brighten the dish and prevent the apples from browning before baking. Baking at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes allows the apples to soften while the topping becomes golden and crisp. You can test doneness by inserting a fork into the apples; they should be tender but not mushy. This dessert embodies the spirit of fall and cozy baking, making it perfect for sharing at family gatherings or enjoying with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Whether you’re an experienced baker or trying this recipe for the first time like the author’s baking bingo adventure, this apple crisp delivers comforting flavors and a delightful texture with minimal effort.
