Try this 💦WET LOOK 💦Editorial Makeup look now!
Hey 🍋 family,
I will say this now so I am loud and clear…I AM NOT A MAKEUP GIRLY! .🤷🏾♀️.lol I feel like it’s a young girls game.. but I do enjoy editorial looks. And the glossy lids are super editorial- quite literally, I remember seeing this wet look / glossy lids in magazines and on Americas Next Top Model 😝😂. I love doing photo shoots and just playing around at home.. in this shoot I tried the glossy lid look…and it worked so well! Ok, so it’s super easy.. and please forgive me..bc I can’t tell you about a makeup tool or brush..😂.. my fingers
are the best brushes I’ve ever used lol. 🤷🏾♀️
For this look I used a Juvias Place palette. I feel for this look in particular, a HIGHLY PIGMENTED (powder) eye shadow works best. Go heavy on the shadow and clean up any excess and falloff. Next, grab your regular- degular dollar store (in this case, Beauty Supply Store) clear lip gloss and apply it to your finger. Then just swipe it on your lid in one direction. Add more if you need to..BUT not too much! It will 💧drip and you don’t want that!
Also- I used this glossy lids for a photoshoot- under regular household lights and lamps. After about 30 minutes the gloss started melting and dripping into my eyes. So beware! While it’s cute.. I don’t think it’s for hot weather or under hot lighting for a long period of time. 🥲. Hope you all enjoy!

Hey beauties! So, if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably scrolled past countless stunning editorial makeup looks, especially those captivating wet look or glossy lids, and thought, "Wow, I wish I could pull that off!" Well, guess what? It’s totally doable, even for us non-makeup gurus! My last post shared my quick dive into creating this eye-catching style at home using just clear lip gloss and pigmented eyeshadow, and I had so much fun with it. But you know, there's always more to learn and share when it comes to getting that perfect beauty editorial makeup vibe. Let's talk more about achieving that dreamy, dewy finish, especially for your eyes. When I first saw these glossy lids in magazines, I was intrigued by how artistic and fresh they looked. It’s definitely an editorial style makeup staple that’s made its way from the runways to our everyday (or at least, our photoshoot) lives. Beyond just swiping on gloss, there are a few extra tips I've picked up to really elevate your wet look eye shadow game. First, prepping your lids is key. The original article mentioned using highly pigmented powder eyeshadow. I totally agree! A vibrant, colorful editorial makeup look really pops under the gloss. Before you even touch that shadow, consider a good eye primer. This isn’t just for making your eyeshadow last; it creates a smoother canvas, which is super important when you’re about to add a wet element. It can also help prevent the gloss from seeping into fine lines around your eyes as quickly. Next, while I love the simplicity of using clear lip gloss on eyelids, it’s worth noting that there are actually dedicated "eye glosses" out there. These are often formulated to be less sticky and more comfortable for the delicate eye area, and sometimes have better staying power. If you’re planning a really heavy makeup look or need it to last longer than my 30-minute test, investing in an actual eye gloss might be a game-changer. However, for a quick, creative burst or a photoshoot, clear lip gloss works wonders – just remember to use a clean applicator or your (clean!) finger to avoid any irritation. For that intense, glossy look, don't be afraid to build up your pigmented eyeshadow underneath. The gloss will sheer it out slightly, so a strong base color is essential. I've found that blues, greens, and even bold pinks (like the one in my picture!) create a truly striking high-fashion effect. The key is to pack on the color, then gently blend the edges before applying the gloss. Now, about the longevity – the original article gave a heads-up about the melting, and trust me, it's real! Hot weather or bright lights are the enemy of glossy lids. If you’re going for a wet look makeup editorial for an event, consider applying it just before you head out, or bring your gloss for touch-ups. Some makeup artists swear by setting the edges of the gloss with a tiny bit of transparent powder, but be careful not to dull the shine. Another trick is to use a very minimal amount of gloss, just enough to catch the light without feeling heavy. You want that glazed donut look, not a melting ice cream cone! Finally, don't limit your wet look inspiration to just the eyes. While glossy lids are the star, you can extend this beauty editorial makeup concept to other areas for a cohesive vibe. A touch of clear gloss on the high points of your cheekbones gives a "wet skin" effect, and of course, a super glossy lip completes the look. This isn’t an everyday makeup style for everyone, but it’s fantastic for artistic expressions, themed parties, or just when you want to feel like you stepped right off a magazine cover. So go ahead, experiment with these glossy eyelid makeup editorial ideas, and embrace the shine!
