My fav Dublin food spots as a college student

2025/3/25 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so living in Dublin as a college student has been an absolute dream, and one of the best parts is definitely the food scene! When I first got here, I was a little overwhelmed, but after exploring quite a bit, I’ve found some true gems that I just have to share. These spots aren't just delicious; they often fit a student budget and and have such a great vibe, perfect for grabbing a bite between classes or for a weekend treat. Let's dive into some of my absolute favorites, starting with Lovinspoon. If you're looking for a hearty breakfast or brunch to fuel a day of studying or exploring, this place is a must-visit. Seriously, their pancakes are legendary – I happily devoured a plate piled high with them, alongside perfectly fried eggs, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, and mushrooms. It’s the kind of full Irish breakfast that just hits different, super comforting and totally satisfying. They also do fantastic coffee, making it a great spot to meet friends or even get some reading done. The atmosphere is always buzzing, friendly, and welcoming, which is exactly what you want when you're far from home. Another spot that quickly became a go-to for me is Two Pups Coffee. It’s not just for coffee lovers; their food menu is equally impressive. I can't recommend their avocado toast enough – it’s a work of art! Topped with a perfectly fried egg, fresh herbs, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds, it’s vibrant, fresh, and incredibly tasty, just like the picture. It’s a bit more on the trendy side, but still feels super cozy and laid-back. Perfect for a slightly fancier brunch or a quick, delicious lunch. For those with a sweet tooth (like me!), Herbstreet is another gem. Their French toast is out of this world. Imagine thick slices of golden French toast, generously garnished with fresh banana slices, a dollop of creamy goodness, crunchy pecans, and a dusting of powdered sugar, all drizzled with syrup. It’s pure indulgence! It's a fantastic place for a weekend brunch, and the portions are always generous. The vibe is modern and lively, making it a popular spot, especially by the canal. And when pizza cravings hit, you absolutely have to check out Bambino. This place is a lifesaver for a quick, delicious, and affordable meal. Their pizzas are classic, simple, and incredibly flavorful. I often grab a couple of slices – mozzarella, fresh basil, and pepperoni, served on paper plates, just like you’d get in a classic New York-style spot. It’s perfect for a casual dinner or a late-night snack after a study session. The simplicity is part of its charm, and it’s always busy with students and locals alike. Finally, for more pancake perfection, Póg is another place I adore. They specialize in healthy-ish, yet absolutely delicious, pancakes. You can stack them high with all sorts of toppings – I usually go for strawberries, blueberries, banana slices, white chocolate chips, and a lovely drizzle of sauce, finished with powdered sugar. It’s a beautiful, vibrant dish that tastes as good as it looks. Póg is great for a bright, energetic start to your day or a lovely treat without feeling too guilty. Exploring Dublin's food scene has been one of my favorite parts of my study abroad experience. These five places—Lovinspoon, Two Pups, Herbstreet, Bambino, and Póg—have really stood out for their delicious food, great atmosphere, and student-friendly vibes. I hope you get to try them out!
