I lost everything I was good at.

It’s a hard pill to swallow, being stripped of the roles that helped me feel confident. I had no idea how much of my identity was wrapped up in being a homeschooling, homesteading mom until the rug was suddenly pulled out from under my feet.

2 quotes have lived in my head through all of this:

J.J. Watt said, “Success is not owned, it’s leased. And rent is due every day.” And J.K. Rowling said, “Rock bottom became the solid foundation upon which I rebuilt my life.”

This season has made both feel painfully true. I keep going for my marriage, my family, and my faith…even when I’m not sure I’m doing it right!

Starting over hasn’t been pretty or poetic, but maybe this is the solid foundation I never expected to find.
