Help us rebuild

After Hurricane Ida destroyed our home, we bought a camper. The man we bought it from hid destruction well. The entire bedroom had to be torn out, including removing the outer walls. The outer walls are back up but there is still tons to do. Mice got inside and we lost nearly everything again. This is just the living room/kitchen. I can’t get to the back bunk yet. No electricity for the slides. Upon cleaning the sink I discovered a crack that does all the way through so it needs to be replaced. Our goal is $3500. Any little bit helps. Any share, any donation.

We are currently living in my mom’s basement. It’s so damp, we just lost our vacuum to grain mites and now all of our belonging in the camper. We have no home. I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone.

... Read moreThe aftermath of Hurricane Ida has left many families, including ours, in dire straits. Our recent decision to buy a camper was born from the urgent need for shelter after losing our home. Unfortunately, the camper we purchased came with its own set of challenges. We've encountered significant structural damage, particularly in the bedroom, which required extensive repairs. Mice infestation has further complicated our situation, leading to the loss of nearly all our belongings stored inside. Currently, we are living in a damp basement which has taken a toll on our health and belongings. For example, we recently had to discard our vacuum due to grain mites, a situation made worse by the lack of proper living conditions. Our efforts to restore the camper are a step toward regaining our independence and finding stability again. However, we need community support to make these repairs. We set a fundraising goal of $3500, aiming to cover essential repairs such as fixing the electrical issues and replacing damaged parts of the camper. Your contributions, whether big or small, make a significant difference in our recovery journey. We advocate strongly for community resilience—your support can turn our challenging experience into a hopeful rebuilding story. Please consider sharing our campaign or making a donation to help us get back on our feet and create a safe living space once again.
