My Girlhood

I feel like this topic is very important for me to talk about as a Latina.
It’s so weird how for the longest time, me being feminine and embracing my soft side was discouraged. It got to the point where I associated femininity as a negative thing.
It’s taken me years to realize that it’s okay to be soft and girly. As long as it makes me happy that’s all that matters.
Anyone relate?
Growing up, many of us face cultural expectations surrounding femininity that can be overwhelming. As a Latina, I often felt pressured to conform to certain ideals that disregarded my soft and girly side. The belief that being feminine was a weakness kept me from fully embracing the things I loved, like wearing bright colors, makeup, and styling my hair. It took years of personal growth and self-acceptance to understand that there's strength in femininity. Today, I'm learning to express my personality without fear of judgment. The journey towards self-acceptance is ongoing. As I continue to explore my feminine side, I find joy in activities that bring back fond childhood memories, such as painting my nails and wearing playful outfits. It's essential to create a supportive community where we can share our experiences and uplift each other. Each step we take towards accepting ourselves is a step towards empowerment.
