How I customized my MacBook!
my macbook is the macbook pro :)
all of the folder icons were found on google or pinterest and can be put on a macbook with these steps: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-icons-for-files-or-folders-on-mac-mchlp2313/mac
all widgetsmith widgets shown are included in the free version (widgetsmith is the only custom widget app i use)
the clock widget is from apple clock but is only displayed on a transparent background due to my device being in light mode
you can also change the fill and outline color of the cursor in system settings and my wallpaper was found on pinterest :)
lastly, i bought the klack app premium ($4.99) so that my keys make typing noises when i type!

It's amazing how much a personalized MacBook can boost your mood and even your productivity! When I first started customizing mine, I was overwhelmed by all the options, but it was so worth it. Beyond just changing icons or adding widgets, think about a cohesive theme. For instance, I loved creating my 'pink aesthetic' setup, from the pink wallpaper I found on Pinterest to the corresponding pink folder icons for all my academic subjects like theology and psychology. Finding those perfect folder icons is easier than you think! When searching on Google or Pinterest, try terms like 'aesthetic folder icons mac pink,' 'minimalist mac icons,' or 'custom mac folder png.' You can often find full icon packs that ensure a consistent look. And remember, once you download them, Apple's built-in guide makes changing them super straightforward – no fancy software needed for that part! Widgetsmith is a fantastic starting point for widgets because of its free tier, but don't stop there if you want more variety. There are other widget apps out there, some offering even more specific functionalities or unique designs. I’ve seen some incredible setups using apps that integrate calendars, to-do lists, or even live weather updates right onto the desktop. The key is to find what works for your workflow and aesthetic. For example, my circular, translucent folder icons for research and class notes help keep my desktop clean but functional. Another game-changer for me was discovering how to customize the cursor color. It's a small detail, but it really adds to the overall personalized feel. And for those who love tactile feedback and a bit of fun, the Klack app for typing sounds is pure joy. It really makes typing feel more engaging. Beyond software, consider physical accessories too! My keyboard protector isn't just for keeping dust out; it also matches my overall aesthetic. You can find these in so many colors and styles. Also, think about cable management and external monitors – extending your personalization to your entire workspace can make a huge difference. When you're diving into Mac personalization, don't be afraid to experiment. Save different wallpapers, try various widget layouts, and play around with color schemes. What looks good in a tutorial might not be perfect for your Mac. The best part is that most changes are reversible, so you can always go back or try something new. It’s all about making your MacBook feel like an extension of you, reflecting your style and helping you stay organized and inspired.
