dr pepper museum 🥤

Waco, TX is rich in history & things to explore, but my favorite thing is the Dr. Pepper Museum! I’m a big time soda fan and was pretty set on Coke products (what can I say, I’m from Georgia), but after this experience I can understand people’s obsessions with the Dr. of Pep.

We did a taste test workshop where we got to try all kinds of flavors, even ones that aren’t on the market in the US or have been discontinued! Then we made our OWN unique soda after learning how the syrups are mixed and it turned out surprisingly yummy 😋

History in general is so fascinating, and I’m especially interested in learning about people’s success stories when creating businesses. As an entrepreneur, it’s cool to see how a person’s passion and persistence can create such an incredible legacy. They walk you through the whole timeline of events, and you even get to learn how soda was originally invented 🥤

... Read moreMy visit to the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas, was truly a deep dive into soda history and flavor, far beyond what I expected! It’s not just a museum; it’s an interactive journey into the world of one of America's most iconic beverages. Right from the start, the museum's charm captivated me. The iconic exterior, with its large Dr Pepper bottle and 'The ORIGINAL HOME of Dr Pepper' emblazoned above the entrance, instantly sets the mood. I loved seeing the 'vintage green truck' parked outside, a perfect photo op! And don't miss the vibrant 'Be a Pepper' mural on the side, it's such a fun, quirky touch that really embodies the brand's spirit. Inside, the exhibits are incredibly well-curated. Walking through the 'historical timeline' was like stepping back in time, tracing Dr Pepper's journey from its beginnings in 1905 all the way to 1965. You get to see original advertisements and learn about the brand's evolution. A particular highlight for me was the detailed display on the 'bottling process,' featuring a large 'carbonator' and even a replica 'bottling line' with those classic green 7UP bottles moving along. It really helped me understand how much craftsmanship went into soda production in the past. I also paused at the magnificent 'historic wooden backbar,' marveling at its ornate carvings and stained glass – it makes you imagine the old-time soda fountains that were once the heart of communities. Of course, the 'make your own soda workshop' in the 'Liquid Lab' was an absolute blast – truly one of the stars of the show! It's not just about mixing; they walk you through the science behind flavors. I proudly concocted my 'Sun SIP Make-A-Soda,' a flavor I never would have imagined. The taste test beforehand was fantastic too, letting me sample discontinued and international Dr Pepper flavors. It truly expanded my palate beyond just Coke products; I now totally get the 'Pepper' obsession! It's such an interactive way to experience the brand. One of the most surprising and cool features was looking down into the 'brick-lined well' through a glass floor – it’s a neat historical detail that connects to the original Dr Pepper well. And for those interested in the brand's early advertising, the outdoor mural reading 'DRINK Dr. Pepper GOOD FOR LIFE! Enjoy THAT flavor' is a fantastic piece of history. The museum does an excellent job of showcasing Dr Pepper's legacy as 'good for life,' not just a drink, but a piece of American ingenuity. Overall, my photos barely do justice to the richness of the Dr Pepper Museum. Whether you're a soda enthusiast, a history buff, or just looking for unique things to do in Waco, it truly offers something for everyone. Don't rush through the exhibits – take your time to read the stories and appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit behind this iconic drink. It’s definitely a must-visit in Waco, TX!
