An open-door policy is not automatically a sign of good leadership.
People may technically have access to you, but that does not mean they feel safe being honest with you.
There is a difference between being available and being approachable. There is a difference between listening and creating consequences for the person who spoke up.
The real measure of leadership is not whether people can come to you.
It is what happens after they do.
Do they leave feeling heard?
Or do they leave regretting that they said anything at all?
