Not the Plum Tree!

... Read moreI’ve recently had some interesting experiences with wildlife in my garden, especially with bunnies that just can’t seem to get enough food! Watching a hungry bunny navigate around trees and plants—notably avoiding certain trees like the plum—has been a daily source of amusement and surprise. One thing I’ve noticed is how bunnies often pick and choose what they nibble on. Although it might look like they’re attacking your plants indiscriminately, they can be surprisingly selective. For example, while a bunny might keep coming back for garden herbs or leafy greens, they might leave fruit trees like plums alone, possibly due to taste or texture preferences. Understanding their behavior can help gardeners find ways to protect specific plants while allowing harmless interactions with wildlife. I found that incorporating bunny-friendly plants away from prized trees can be a practical strategy. Providing safe spots with clover, dandelions, or lettuces can keep the bunnies busy and reduce their interest in more valuable trees. Watching wildlife in my garden has taught me to appreciate these little visitors while balancing the needs of my plants. If you enjoy blending gardening with wildlife watching, consider creating a habitat that supports both plants and animals without conflict. This approach also helps foster biodiversity and makes your garden more lively and engaging throughout the seasons.
