I personally witnessed the shift firsthand. Just days before festival season was set to kick off, announcements of cancellations poured in as governments imposed restrictions on large gatherings. The energy that usually buzzed around festival grounds was replaced by uncertainty and caution. Despite initial disappointment, the raver community adapted in creative ways. Virtual festivals and livestreamed sets became popular, offering fans a way to connect and experience music safely. Social media platforms served as hubs for sharing memories and keeping the spirit alive amid isolation. This period also encouraged reflection on health and safety in event planning. Organizers began developing protocols to ensure future festivals could return safely. Festivals evolved to incorporate hybrid models combining in-person and virtual experiences, broadening access and engagement.
