Byoma Retinol Oil

Today’s Skincare Review is brought to you by my lack of self control and Ulta Beauty constantly having sales😆

This Byoma Reintol oil claims to be a gentle solution for my sensitive skin girlies who also want use a retinol product.

Review:

There was no irritation, and my skin was soft the next morning. However, It seemed like the product just would not absorb into my skin. I tried gently patting my face with my fingers, and still it just sat over my skin like a glaze. This product is a 6/10 for me.

If you’ve tried this, let me know if you liked it in the comments⬇️

... Read moreAs someone who's always wanted to incorporate a retinol into my routine for better skin, but constantly worried about the dreaded irritation, finding a truly gentle option has been a journey. My sensitive skin often reacts to stronger actives, leaving me red and flaky. That's why the Byoma Sensitive Retinol Oil caught my eye, with its claims of being suitable for even the most reactive skin types. I picked up this distinctive green dropper bottle, hoping it would be the answer to my retinol woes. What truly drew me to this Byoma retinol oil was its ingredient list, which sounded like a dream for barrier support. The packaging highlights key components like barrier lipids, Vitamin A (which is the retinol itself), and Squalane. Barrier lipids are fantastic for reinforcing the skin's natural protective layer, which is crucial when introducing an active like retinol. Vitamin A, as we know, is the star for anti-aging and skin renewal. And Squalane? It’s a brilliant emollient that helps to moisturize and prevent transepidermal water loss, making the retinol experience much more comfortable. This combination promised a boosted barrier and overall better skin without the usual retinol side effects, delivered in a convenient 30ml/1.01 fl.oz size. My personal experience started off promisingly. True to its claims, I experienced absolutely no irritation, redness, or dryness, which is a huge win for any retinol product on my sensitive skin. I woke up each morning with incredibly soft skin, feeling hydrated and calm. However, I did run into a bit of a snag that the original review also highlighted: absorption. For some reason, this sensitive retinol oil just seemed to sit on top of my skin like a slight glaze. I tried patting it in gently, waiting longer between steps, and even applying it to slightly damp skin, but it often felt like it wasn't fully sinking in. I've learned a few tricks that might help if you encounter this. First, less is definitely more. A couple of drops – really, just a couple – is all you need. Warming the oil between your palms before gently pressing it onto your face can also aid absorption. I also found that applying it as my very last step, after all my other serums and moisturizers, sometimes worked better for me, allowing everything else to absorb first. Or, conversely, applying it onto slightly damp skin right after cleansing and toning, then following with moisturizer, also helped in some instances. It seems to depend on what my skin needs that day. For those wondering, yes, it contains retinoid, which is a broader term for Vitamin A derivatives, making it a true Byoma skincare retinol option. Despite the absorption quirk, I still believe this Byoma gentle retinol has its place, especially for beginners or those with extremely sensitive skin looking for a calming retinol. It’s a fantastic entry-level retinoid that prioritizes skin comfort and barrier health. While it might not deliver the intense results of stronger retinols, it’s a consistent, non-irritating option for gradual improvement. If you're looking for a Byoma retinol serum that helps maintain a healthy skin barrier while introducing Vitamin A, this could be a great fit. It's a testament to how Byoma is trying to make powerful ingredients accessible and comfortable for everyone, even for those of us who typically shy away from retinol.
