... Read moreHey bookworms! We all know about the infamous TBR (To Be Read) pile, right? But what about the books we want to read, but haven't even bought yet? For me, that's where my TBB (To Be Bought) list comes in, and honestly, it's just as important, if not more, than my actual TBR! It started because, let's be real, I can't afford to buy every single book that catches my eye. And trust me, with all the incredible new releases and hidden gems out there, my 'want' list is endless! So, instead of letting those amazing titles slip through the cracks of my memory, I began taking pictures of them. It's my simple, effective way to build a dream library, one potential purchase at a time. I'll snap a photo of a cover that intrigues me, like the mysterious "The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows" or the vibrant "Keanu Reeves China Miéville the book of elsewhere," and save it to a dedicated album on my phone. Sometimes, if I'm feeling fancy, I'll even make a note of why I wanted it or where I saw the recommendation. So, why bother with a TBB list? For me, it’s about mindful book consumption. It helps me budget effectively, preventing impulse buys I might regret later. It also gives me something to look forward to! When I finally get to pick a book from my TBB list and bring it home, it feels like a special treat. It's also a fantastic way to keep track of recommendations from friends or those viral books you see everywhere. I recently saw someone mention "A Magical Girl Retires" and immediately added it to my photo album – that way, when I'm ready for a new fantasy read, I won't forget it. How do you manage your own 'to be bought' books? Besides photos, some friends use Goodreads wishlists, others keep a running note in their phone, and some even have a dedicated journal. Whatever your method, the goal is the same: to capture those moments of discovery. And when it comes to finally buying them, I often prioritize based on my current reading mood, or if I spot a great deal. For example, if I'm in the mood for something a bit spooky, I'll look for "Cursed Objects" on sale. Libraries are also amazing for 'testing' books from your TBB before committing to a purchase. Having a TBB list means I’m always discovering, always anticipating, and always building towards my perfect library, without the guilt of overspending. It's a journey, not a race. What amazing books are on your TBB list right now?
