Reflection prompt (8)

This question was one of those that you knew what the answer is but you find it hard to actually say it or even feel like that the answer isn’t true. Caring so much about your loved ones that you lie about your own mental or even physical health isn’t good but sometimes you feel like it’s better than seeing them worry about you. Know that it’s ok for people to worry about you! That they want to be part of your healing process and something that process requires you showing how hurt you actually are so they can be someone to lean on!

... Read moreYou know that feeling when you're trying to put on a brave face, even when inside you're struggling? I've been there so many times, especially when it comes to my mental health. The thought of burdening loved ones or making them worry often stops me from being truly honest, even with myself. But what I've learned through my own journey with emotional reflection journaling is that this self-deception can actually slow down healing. That's why I'm such a huge advocate for handwritten journaling for emotional reflection. There’s something incredibly therapeutic about putting pen to paper. It’s not just about typing out thoughts; it’s a tactile experience that connects you more deeply to your inner world. When I'm feeling overwhelmed, grabbing my journal—sometimes one with a colorful journal spread and rainbow background to lift my spirits—and just letting my thoughts flow, it's like a direct line to my subconscious. It helps process feelings without the pressure of having to articulate them perfectly to someone else. Plus, adding stickers or drawing can make it feel less daunting and more like a creative outlet. Through this process, I've noticed a huge shift in how I understand my emotions. Instead of bottling things up or just reacting, journaling for emotional reflection allows me to observe my feelings, identify triggers, and understand underlying patterns. It’s a safe space to ask myself tough questions, like the one I recently came across in a collection of *10 journal prompts for: self reflection*: 'Is there something you're not being honest about with yourself?' This specific prompt really hit home, making me confront areas where I was projecting an image of being more mentally healed than I actually was, just to avoid worrying others. If you're just starting out or stuck, don't worry! There are so many ways to approach *journaling and self-reflection*. Sometimes, I'll use a specific prompt list, like the one I mentioned. Questions like 'When do you feel the most like yourself?' or again, 'Is there something you're not being honest about with yourself?' can unlock powerful insights. Don't feel like you need to write perfectly; handwritten text can be messy and raw, and that's the beauty of it. The original article really touched on the difficulty of showing how hurt you actually are. It’s a vulnerable space, but my experience confirms that it’s okay for people to worry about you. In fact, when I started using my journal for emotional reflection to truly acknowledge my struggles, it became easier to communicate them to loved ones. It wasn't about dumping my problems on them, but about inviting them into my healing process in an authentic way. They appreciated the honesty and felt closer to me, knowing they could truly be someone to lean on. So, if you're struggling with emotional reflection or feeling like you're not entirely honest with yourself or others, pick up a pen and paper. Give handwritten journal reflection a try. It’s a powerful tool for self-discovery and can be a profound step towards genuine healing and stronger, more honest relationships. You might be surprised at what you uncover about your true self.

I absolutely love this style of journaling. It’s such a good outlet for me - i always am thinking a lot but I’m also creative and need stuff like this. Where do you get your supplies?

That’s sutch a hard thing to learn too, it gets difficult to know it’s okay to rely on people in right there with you
