Rest isn’t a reward, it’s a reset

A little pause for myself and everything feels a bit lighter ✨

In the middle of caring for everyone else, it’s easy to forget that we also need care.

Today was a reminder to slow down, breathe and do something that fills my own cup again. Not because it’s extra but because it helps me show up better in every part of life.

When I feel restored, everything I give to my family, my work and my goals feels more steady too! 🙆🏻‍♀️

Many of us, especially those juggling roles as parents and professionals, tend to view rest as a reward — something we get only after accomplishing big tasks. However, reframing rest as a reset rather than a reward can transform how we care for ourselves. During my own experience balancing work, family, and personal goals, I found that brief pauses to breathe and recharge significantly improved my focus and emotional resilience. It’s not about taking extra time away but about investing in moments that fill your cup, so you can serve others better. Incorporating simple rituals like mindful breathing, unplugging from digital devices, or engaging in a favorite hobby during self-care moments can refresh your energy. Creating a routine around these resets, whether it’s once a week or daily mini-pauses, builds a foundation for sustainable productivity and emotional balance. Moreover, acknowledging that caring for yourself is just as important as caring for others helps maintain mental health. When you feel restored, your contributions—to your family, your job, and your personal aspirations—become more consistent and fulfilling. Events like Self Care Day at places like KEDAI BEG highlight community support for these practices, emphasizing that self-care is a shared journey, not a solitary task. Embracing this mindset reduces burnout and nurtures a more joyful, steady path forward, especially for those living the busy #MomLife or following the #MompreneurJourney.

4 types of rest when “just relax” doesn’t work
As someone who’s both a digital art psychotherapist and a sensitive human, I’ve never really related to “just do nothing and you’ll feel rested”. My brain usually gets more anxious, not calmer. Over time, I realised I needed different kinds of rest that still feel safe for my nervous system.

Why I no longer build my trades around 1:2 R:R
When I first started trading, I believed one rule mattered more than anything else: 👉 “Always use at least 1:2 risk-to-reward.” It sounded disciplined. It sounded mathematical. It felt safe. Risk 1 to make 2. You only need a ~34% win rate. Simple, right? But over time, I realised so
