recent medallion
recent medallion ive finished recently ive been really slow in making beadwork and have mostly been trying to mentally heal my head before continuing picking up a needle and beads. im a big believer and not doing beadwork while depressed I dont want to put that type of energy into it yanno?. this took me 4 months due to on and off depression. felt like happiness would last a moment then flit off so quickly.
📒Notes: none I think I did a good job 👏
Creating beadwork during challenging emotional times can be both a therapeutic and creative journey. In my experience, approaching beadwork while mindful of my mental state allows the energy and intention behind each stitch to truly shine. This recent medallion, themed around "Warriors," reflects not only artistic skill but also resilience and healing through patience. Beadwork, especially when inspired by Native American traditions, carries deep cultural and symbolic meanings. The act of slowly threading beads can serve as a form of meditation, helping to calm a restless mind. I've found that allowing myself to pause and prioritize mental well-being before continuing my beadwork projects results in a more genuine, heartfelt piece. Taking four months to complete this medallion was a personal victory. It taught me the importance of pacing and listening to my emotional needs rather than rushing artistic outcomes. Each session with needle and beads became a moment to embrace small flashes of happiness and channel them into something tangible. This careful balance of creativity and mental health not only enriched the finished medallion but also fostered my wellness. For fellow creators, whether you are working with beadwork or any detailed craft, consider how your current emotional state can influence your artistry. It’s okay to slow down, take breaks, and return with fresh energy. Art made with positive intention can be profoundly impactful, both for the artist and those who experience the finished work.
