Legends Archive- Felix Five-Boots
This week we are covering Felix Five-Boots, in my opinion one of the cooler commanders from the Outlaws of Thunder Junction set. I really like the design of this card and all the different build paths possible with him. I’m sure there’s some I haven’t even thought of yet so let me know how you’ve built this commander.

Hey everyone, I'm still absolutely buzzing about Felix Five-Boots from Outlaws of Thunder Junction! After posting my initial thoughts, I've spent even more time brewing and wanted to share some deeper dives into his incredible potential. His ability to double triggered abilities from permanents when your creatures deal combat damage to a player is just bonkers, and I've found a few key strategies to really make him shine. First, let's talk about those combat damage triggers. Felix wants your creatures to connect! Cards like Grim Hireling become absolute powerhouses. Imagine hitting an opponent with a creature and doubling the treasure creation – you'll ramp so fast! Similarly, Bident of Thassa turns every successful attack into a double draw, keeping your hand full. And who doesn't love the classic Sword of Feast and Famine? Doubling its trigger means double land untaps and double discards for your opponent, which is just devastating. I've also been eyeing Mask of Riddles for extra card draw, though it requires specific conditions. Beyond just drawing cards or making treasures, Felix can supercharge creatures with powerful combat damage triggers of their own. Take something like Hydra Omnivore – if it connects, Felix could make it deal damage to all other opponents twice! Or imagine Giant Adephage creating not one, but two copies of itself. Even Old Gnawbone making double Treasure tokens after dealing combat damage is insane ramp. This is where the deck gets truly explosive. To ensure your creatures are consistently landing hits, evasion is key. Felix himself has menace, which is a great start. Equipping him with something like Power Fist or even Wand of Orcus (for the equip cost and potential token generation) can make him a bigger threat. Cards that grant unblockable or trample are also hugely beneficial. While not directly doubling triggers, creatures like Trygon Predator and Glissa Sunslayer offer valuable utility that ensures your board state is healthy enough to keep attacking. I've also been thinking about the flexibility of his ability. It's not just about Felix dealing the damage, but any creature you control. This opens up options for a go-wide strategy where multiple smaller creatures chip away, each potentially doubling a global effect like Bident of Thassa. Or, you can focus on a few key, hard-hitting creatures. Think about how many cards you could draw with Toski, Bearer of Secrets or how many Ninjutsu triggers you could set up with Nashi, Moon Sage's Scion if your other creatures are getting through. What about protection for Felix himself? He's a legendary creature, so he's crucial. His ward 2 helps, but having ways to protect him, like counterspells or hexproof-granting equipment, is vital. I'm still exploring if cards like Key to the Vault or Ojer Kaslem, Deepest Growth fit naturally into the strategy, but the core idea is to keep Felix on the board to leverage his doubling effect. Koma, World-Eater is another powerful permanent with triggered abilities that could be fun to explore. I'm really having a blast building around this guy, and the possibilities feel endless. What legendary creatures or unique artifacts have you found that combine perfectly with Felix's triggered ability? I'm always looking for new combos and unexpected synergies!
