GOYO 4K!!!

Hey R6 fam! After that wild 4K play with Goyo, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into mastering his Volcán Canisters. Honestly, Goyo is one of my favorite defenders, and his gadget, when used right, can totally change the tide of a round. I’ve spent countless hours experimenting with placements, and getting that 4K felt incredible, proving just how powerful these things can be. First off, never just throw a Volcán shield anywhere. Think strategically! A common mistake I see is players putting them in obvious spots where they get shot out instantly. The real magic happens when you use them as delayed denial or area control. For instance, on maps with tight corridors like the B1 Supply Room or even around Basement Stairs, placing a shield just out of sight around a corner can be devastating. Attackers push in, and boom – they’re either forced to take fire or burn valuable utility to deal with the flame. One of my go-to strategies, which definitely helped in that 4K round, is blocking off key entry points after the initial push. Say, you’re defending a site like B1 Locker Room. Attackers often push through the main door or try to flank via the B White Stairs. Instead of placing the Volcán shield directly in the doorway, I'll often put it a few steps back inside the room. This way, when they breach, they don't see it immediately. Once they're committed to pushing through, detonating it creates a fiery trap. It’s all about timing and anticipating their moves. Another pro tip: combine Goyo with other operators! If you have a Smoke, you can create a double layer of denial. Or, if you have someone like a Maestro or Valkyrie, their cams can give you perfect intel on when to detonate your shields. I’ve had rounds where a well-placed Evil Eye spotted enemies, and I just had to hit my trigger to get a multi-kill, much like my recent 4K. Don't forget about using them for plant denial. If you hear a plant going down, and you have a Volcán shield near the planter, a quick detonation can either stop the plant or force them into a vulnerable position. Also, pay attention to breakable walls and barricades. Sometimes, placing a Volcán shield behind a soft wall or a barricade can surprise attackers who push through, especially if they're expecting a standard defender. The OCR mentioned "BARRICADE," and this is exactly where creative Goyo plays shine. The key is patience and observation. Don't detonate your shields just because you see an enemy. Wait for them to commit, or for multiple enemies to be caught in the blast radius. That's how you turn a single kill into a game-changing 4K!
